I do remember that I disliked reading Biedermann und die Brandstifter in school but this production being put on in my home town seemed like the thing to go to anyway.

TIL that german doubtfully legal border controls from Schengen countries can be avoided on a sleeper train by pretending to be a very deep sleeper. I think next time the opportunity arises I will see what chaos an unstamped non-EU passport traveling over an internal border might cause.

I have just realised that next year's Worldcon and my yearly professional conference are about two weeks apart, both at the west coast of the USA and Amtrak does really quite nice long distance connections there. I should not be trusted with knowledge like that. I so love an overnight train.

Today it’s apparently the TGV wires that have a problem and led to my train being cancelled. Couldn’t rebook online to anything useful but a few minutes of waiting and talking to an actual person got me onto an earlier train than the original would have been. My inner hermit will just have to cope.

I generally don’t think I have particularly bad travel luck, I’m basically commuting internationally and with that frequency there’s bound to be the occasional issue. It’s just hard to keep that in mind when you’re once again stuck at random station due to strikes and missing a connection 🙈
