A note on those "5 bullet points" weekly from every fed employee: there are 3m of them. Assuming it takes 1 min to review each email, 1 person can review 2,400/wk. So we would need 1,250 fed employees doing nothing but reviewing emails 40 hrs a week, 50 wks a year (including their own of course).

CNN [Feb 21] -- Police have charged two more in the upstate New York murder of 24-yr-old trans man of color, Sam Nordquist, who had travelled to NYS from Minnesota. Five had already been charged, bringing the total to 7. [@rikiwilchins.bsky.social‬]

Interesting seeing Trump celebrate "end of trans gender insanity" at CPAC while even at Fox News they are aren't mispronouning or misgendering Sam Nordquist. "Trans victim" is cold comfort I know, but not nothing. And all local Fox affiliates seem to be correctly identifying him as "trans man."

NBC [Feb 22] -- Mother of a slain Minnesota trans man Sam Nordquist who was killed in upstate NY has slammed local Canandaigua PD claiming she requested two wellness checks on him after he expressed feeling he was in danger but CPD never conducted them. [@rikiwilchins.bsky.social‬]

MenaceNews [SATIRE] -- DOGE team requiring all fed workers to "email 5 bullets of what you accomplished each week" or be fired. Straight white male employees must also email "5 women you sexually harassed, 5 BiPOC ppl you microaggressed & 5 trans people you misgendered or mispronouned" weekly.

I am exhausted, overwhelmed & high on dopamine with all the love and visibility I experienced at today's S_onewall Rally for Trans-Visibility. I love you all. We will not be erased. @transexualmenace.bsky.social #stonewall #TransexualMenace #TransRightsAreHumanRights #strongertogether #BlueCrew

The Menace just killin' the demo today in NYC's Stonewall Park. Kudos to Denise Norris and 2,000 of her closets friends 👍🏼 You did us proud.

Guardian [Feb 22] -- A Missouri Republican has introduced a bill that would create a state registry of pregnant women who are "at risk" of getting abortions. The bill doesn't say women would have to wear ankle monitors but presumably that proposal isn't far behind. [@rikiwilchins.bsky.social‬]

NZHerald [Feb 21] -- ME Dem Gov Janet Mills in fiery Wht Hs exchange: T iI the gov. of ME here? M Yeah I'm here T Are you not gonna comply? M I'm going to comply with state & federal law T You better do it bc you're not gonna get any fed funding... M See you in court [@rikiwilchins.bsky.social‬]

LawDork [Feb 21] -- NAACP, Lambda Legal, and other nonprofits file suit against anti-DEI and anti-trans Exec Orders on grounds they violate First Amendment and equal protection guarantees and exceed Presidential authority. [@rikiwilchins.bsky.social‬]

Gallup [Feb 20] -- Another striking graphic from Gallup. The big question is, what is the _ceiling_ on LGBTQ+ identification? shorturl.at/EaMbd [@rikiwilchins.bsky.social‬]

Gallup [Feb 20] -- Pretty striking graphic from Gallup poll. LGBTQ+ population up 100% just since the Obama years. shorturl.at/EaMbd [@rikiwilchins.bsky.social‬]

ErinReed [Feb 20] -- Despite ferocious govt assault the US is queerer than ever. Gallup finds nearly 1-in-ten adults are LGBTQ+ (9.3%), nearly double 2020. Trans is up 50% to 1.3% in just 2 yrs from 0.9% in 2023. And among Gen Z, nearly 1-in-4 (23%) are LGBTQ+! [@rikiwilchins.bsky.social‬]

WashPo [con't.] -- Depth of support for Trump 2.0 is also weaker than the opposition. Those who "strongly oppose" outnumber those who "strongly support" by a solid 10% -- by 37% to 27%. [@rikiwilchins.bsky.social‬]

WashPo [Feb 20] -- Americans oppose what they've seen of Trump 2.0 so far by 48%-43%, with a solid 57% saying he's exceeded his authority. 90% of Rs support & 90% of Ds oppose--but Inds break solidly 50%-33% opposed. [@rikiwilchins.bsky.social‬]

ErinReed [Feb 20 -- A Montana judge for the second time blocked a state law passed by the legislature seeking to define sex according to chromosomal biology, calling it "intellectually and morally indefensible." [@rikiwilchins.bsky.social‬]

Has _anyone_ heard from A4TE lately? Not to pick on them but at the most imp juncture in trans rights history I can't recall the last story mentioning them. Even their website's top piece is RFK's confirmation. Really? All these E/Os to eradicate trans & that's the main danger we must address?

YouGov [Feb 11] -- British public views on trans rights has dropped somewhat, with 55% agreeing with changing their gender socially, down 8% from 2022. Women have reversed their support for legally changing sexes: 37% to 42% down from 44% to 32% in 2022. [by @rikiwilchins.bsky.social‬]

YouGov [Feb 18] -- Few voters trust Trump on LGBTQ (51%) and trans (50%) issues. Even Reps give him relatively low numbers, with only 61% trusting him. These are among his lowest levels of confidence among Americans generally & among Republicans for any issue. [by @rikiwilchins.bsky.social‬]

WashPo [Feb 18] -- Kansas overrides Dem Gov. Laura Kelly's ban of pediatric affirming care bill. Follows a similar action in 2024 when Ohio lawmakers overrode Rep Gov. Mike DeWine’s veto of a similar ban. [@rikiwilchins.bsky.social‬]

ABC [Feb 19] -- Calling it "unadulterated animus," a federal judge appears ready to block the trans military ban explaining: "[T]he greatest fighting force in world history is not going to be impacted by 1% of the soldiers using a different pronoun." [@rikiwilchins.bsky.social‬]

IndyStar [Feb 19] -- In ruby red Indiana--a Trump +24 state--all but three Ds voted against a sports ban. This parallels US House where all but 3 Ds voted ag. a similar bill. Sports is the hardest issue for Ds with 2/3 of voters supporting bans including half of Dems [@rikiwilchins.bsky.social‬]

SLC Tribune [Feb 18] -- Salt Lake Trib up with an op-ed disputing Trump anti-trans EEOC order and declaring that under Bostock, workplace discrimination against gay/trans employees still remains illegal and pointing out even the LDS Church agrees. [by @rikiwilchins.bsky.social‬]

Struck by diff from Brandon->Sam. Press misgendered pronouned Brandon & nearly blamed him for being assaulted. Sam's coverage so far _v_ respectful. NE Sheriff humiliated Brandon & all but caused his death. NYS Sheriff repeatedly denounced Sam's assailants. What slow, v painful progress looks like.

Nearly every one of us has had take on hostile families, bullies, misgendering teachers, transphobic employers, street harassment and the whole gender system alone practically since birth. Did you _really_ think we couldn't take on Trump? If you're reading this you ARE the resistance.

Trans protests breaking out all over. @transexualmenace.bsky.social reported got 30k hits (!). Is this it? Is the Transgender Nation rousing itself last? If you're reading this, you ARE the resistance. Because we are #WhatTheFutureOfWhatGenderLooksLike

From the Menace's 1994 Brandon Teena Memorial Vigil outside a lonely Falls City NE courthouse to today, never a better time to protest and demonstrate for trans rights. Time to stand up, man up, suit up & show up and Menace someone.

Assigned Media [Feb 17] -- There has never been a more important time for trans people to stand up, suit up, and show up for themselves. Time to go Menace someone or something! My thoughts, from the Menace's Brandon Teena Memorial Vigils (1994) to today...

From Brandon Teena (1993) to Sam Nordquist (RIP 2025), it's still another reminder that talk of trans woman as potential assailants has always been just a neat rhetorical trick to obscure the fact that we have a LOT more fear from them than they do from us.

From the Natl Women's Law Ctr: states that have allowed trans women/girls in school sports have had MORE, not LESS cis women & girls playing. Because the real thing "stealing" female participation in sports isn't half a dozen trans athletes, it's being starved of facilities, funding, and support.

A/P [Feb 13] - Does anyone else find it strange that the head of _Germany_ has to now lecture the head of the United States of America on the importance of not coddling and empowering Nazis?

There are two big questions now, trans & non-trans: Will the administration abide by the wave of TROs now washing over its Exec Orders? Will the Supreme Court eventually sustain the TROs? Without the first, we have a Constitutional crisis. Without the second, we have no guardrails left.

Independent [Feb 12] -- In the midst of Europe's first land war in 80 years, Vice Pres. Vance formally ended the post-war detente which has kept democracy safe in Europe since WW II by bitterly denouncing its governments for not welcoming neo-Nazi and fascist parties into their ranks.

Yahoo [con't.] -- **TRIGGER WARNING** Just a note that the kidnapping of Sam was over a month ago and so far as we know, from the facts released so far appears to have no apparent connection to current political events.

Yahoo [Feb 13] -- **TRIGGER WARNING** NYS Police charged 5 people w/ violently assaulting 24 y/o Black trans man Sam Nordquist for a month before discarding his body in a field, describing it as "beyond depraved." Rest In Peace, Sam. You are not forgotten. [by @rikiwilchins.bsky.social‬]

ErinReed [Feb 14] -- Demostrations erupted at Stonewall National Park protesting the removal of transgender and queer people from the website by the National Park Service. NPS language was changed from "LGBTQ+" to "LGBQ+" and then finally scrubbed to just "LGB." [by @rikiwilchins.bsky.social‬]
