I think it is more that we have plenty on our own plates and are not centring the US. My work aims to have policy relevance in Ireland, and Europe to a lesser extent, so that is where my focus is. I focus on where I can have an impact

Completely agree!
I will say, in Ireland, which is one of the most pro-Palestinian countries in the world, there is no cost to speaking up against the genocide. But we can all do more for sure
I personally wouldn't risk travelling to the US for the foreseeable 😔

In my LinkedIn network people mainly talk about professional bits directly related to their jobs and generally US politics wouldn't enter into that very much

I live in Ireland. I have not spoken to a single person lately who is not deeply disturbed by what is going on in the US. All speak up in person - not sure about LinkedIn

Ireland should follow Wales and ban greyhound racing. My sweet greyhound is traumatised by her time as a racer before we adopted her. The dogs deserve so much better!

Same! I don't see how you can do it without having lots of privilege. Which is very unfortunate and surely prevents all kinds of people from being able to work in academia in the first place!
