Don't mind me, just taking my growing collection of orgs preemptively complying w fascists for a walk πŸ•β€πŸ¦ΊπŸΎπŸΎ

I am fearful that for scientists, our deference to authority and unwillingness to be the nail that sticks out will cause our ruin. I recognise many are relatively high up in the food chain, and thus have more at stake. It makes sense to defer to the structures and norms that you have... 1/n

I hope this is the beginning - need more high-profile Dems speaking plainly about what is going on. Thank you Gov. Pritzker!

Dear US scientists, We've been hearing a lot of questions of the form "Why aren't universities doing anything!? They need to speak out!" We can explain. It's bad news. We're on our own. But understanding why can help us all figure out our plan. Read along in thread 1/x πŸ§ͺ

"One thing is certain: The changes we make ourselves will be healthier than the ones our adversaries demand." New work for @undark.org: undark.org/2025/02/06/o...

Adding to collection of science orgs complying in advance.

Collecting examples of "complying in advance" from spineless orgs in science.

Congratulations to UVA Hospital for being praised for being especially compliant above and beyond the call of cowardice.

Do Not Obey in Advance, is the least we can do. Do not kowtow to an incoming policy or leadership change. Preemptively changing your behavior gives the appearance of uncomplaining compliance at best, and support at worst. Make leadership explain; many things sound less appealing when said out loud.

Happy #FluorescenceFriday! Never on the scope as frequently as I'd like; here's an oldie from when the UVA Advanced Microscopy Facility had just received the Zeiss Lightsheet 7. Coronary arteries nicely visualized by a myh11-driven tdtomato... I think. I'm not a heart person lmao.
