Growing up, Lithgow’s work as Walter Curnow in 2010 was a big part of helping me realize I could be big and clever. His work in Life of Garp was the earliest portrayal of trans folks I remember seeing. This is a terrible final chapter for anyone. For him it feels like a betrayal.
