If you're interested in the Pacific Northwest, urban carnivores, wolverines, amphibians, bats, #conservationtechnology, or how woodlandparkzoo.bsky.social is conserving wildlife, check out fox13.bsky.social ‘s “Saving Wildlife.” The first episode just dropped: www.fox13seattle.com/video/1642484

Seattle’s downtown is exceedingly more bikeable than it was just a few years ago. And, the waterfront bike path is finally complete, and a joy to ride!

Ever wondered if a small, fluffy, very cute pup could hack it in the wilderness? Well, another new blog post from P. MacKay describes our most recent attempt to get at that question! paulamackay.com/blog/gg7af25...

A few weeks ago Paula and I got to meet some wolverines during a trip associated with our carnivore conservation work for @woodlandparkzoo.bsky.social Read about it here! paulamackay.com/blog/getting...

Interested in #ConservationTech? Come join another @wildlabsnet.bsky.social variety hour for a sneak peak at new exciting projects, including the wildlife scent dispenser we've developed to survey rare carnivores in tough-to-access regions. See you all there! wildlabs.net/event/variet...

I'm very excited to share a new paper that used the largest wolverine genetic dataset ever assembled in North America to explore genetic connectivity of wolverines across western NA. Special congrats to lead authors C. Day, E. Landguth, and M. Sawaya #wolverine #DNA www.nature.com/articles/s41....

Twitter, as we knew it, no longer exists. “X” is a cesspool of misinformation and propaganda. I’ve been reluctant to put a lot of energy into a “Twitter alternative” because none of them have taken off. But I hope we can regain that global conversation someplace again. Maybe this is the place.

Sharing Paula MacKay’s short blog post from Wednesday—I know it helped me keep in mind the wonders, even in the midst of grief and tragedy. paulamackay.com/blog/sufferi...

I’m really pleased that our paper describing an overwinter protocol for surveys of #wolverine s and other other #carnivore s is out! If you deploy #cameratrap s with an attractant, especially during winter, it might be of interest. @woodlandparkzoo doi.org/10.1002/ece3...

P. MacKay and I enjoyed our recent convo on the RewildingEarth podcast covering a broad swath of topics #carnivore #cameratrap #noninvasive #scicomm #wolverine #grizzlybear #connectivity #scat #pnw @ben_a_goldfarb @roamnjoe Robin Wall Kimmerer @rewilding rewilding.org/episode-120-...

Paula MacKay's new abecedarian essay "Wolverines in a Land of Wildfire" is a poetic exploration of an amazing species in a wild and changing landscape. Check it out now in About Place Journal aboutplacejournal.org/issues/the-m... and learn more at paulamackay.com/blog/fqydbgg...

This is going to be a great conference next week! Looking forward to learning a bunch about weasels—big and small—from new and old colleagues alike! (On X) @JasonTFisherLab @Fuller_Lab @chrissuthy @_sfrey_ @joburgar www.martesworkinggroup.org/martes-sympo...

Anyone used the Wiley preprint service “Under Review” (Authorea)? It allows citing of the article prior to peer review, which seems counter to the purpose of peer rev! Also, enables comments from public, but not supposed to affect the review process. Not really sure the purpose, therefore. Thoughts?

Catching up on some posting backlog... Thanks to the Seattle Channel and CityStream, and @IanDevier (on X) for the well-done piece about #coexisting with urban #coyotes in Seattle! @samanthakreling (on X) https://www.seattlechannel.org/CityStream/segments?videoid=x149930

First post here…hoping this platform takes off and I can switch permanently! I study #carnivores in the Pacific Northwest using noninvasive methods, in collab with a wide variety of colleagues and entities. Projects focus on spp recovery, human-wildlife coexistence, and community engagement.
