Members of Congress should never be allowed to trade stocks. Period.

The single biggest personal nemesis I have is 100% Past Ted, because that fucker leaves me nothing but problems and spent all my money. The shit.

What David Brooks misses is that there weren't two different types of Republicans. There were Republicans that lived in a theoretical mental exercise, and then the ones who put those mental exercises into practice. This is the logical end of the notions he spent his life toying with.

It's always the businessmen most likely to commit fraud who believe that fraud is rampant. They tell on themselves.

The most underrated book of all time is The Jungle by Upton Sinclair. It gets a lot of credit for moving Teddy Roosevelt to create the FDA, but the meat packing industry is only a small portion of that book. It's an indictment of capitalism, and is as relevant today as it was when it was written.

My prediction for 2026. Trump will lower the income amount of the Federal Poverty Level. Then declare that he's lifted millions of Americans out of poverty.

America uniting the world against itself wasn't the path to world peace that we'd imagined. Probably should have seen it coming though.

When I visited the House of Terror in Budapest, they had a hall with the names and photos of the sympathizers and enablers of the totalitarian regimes. When this is over, we need to have something similar.

Couldn't we just push harder to send Zuckerberg, Musk, and Bezos to Mars? Not only would we get rid of a few billionaires, but they'd be able to test their genius vs the elements, and we'll get to watch.

"Wait until the GOP is so unpopular that even we can win," is a terrible strategy.

Everyone’s like “this can’t be fascism it’s too dumb” but they don’t understand that fascism is in fact almost always very dumb! Fascist dictators are cruel and stupid men. And it’s popular because many people are cruel and stupid!

Everyone watching The Phantom Menace in 1999: “Why does this matter? Tarrifs and blockades of trade routes in outer space?” George Lucas in 2025:

In other 1990s midwest hardcore band news… By the Grace of God released a new song: Colliding Tribes https://youtube.com/watch?v=kdH-5YpVxV4 Also released as a flexi disc! https://shirtkiller.com/collections/auxiliaryrecords/products/by-the-grace-of-god-colliding-tribes-7-flexi-disc-aux24

Whenever someone asks for a recommendation for non-profit organizations, I can't help but recommend Tesla.

Once a side goes all in for fascism, I'm not sure that healing the divisions in society is the call the middle should be making. The middle will need to choose a side.

The terrible CR Budget bill — written by right-wing House Republicans with no input from anybody but themselves — was passed tonight with the support of 10 Democrats.   An absolute failure of Democratic leadership. NOBODY in the Senate should have voted for this dangerous bill.

Happy Pi Day

Damn it’s really wild that the exact number of democratic senators needed to successfully stop the GOP from doing something awful is always one more than they have!!!!

I think some in the Senate have convinced themselves that the backlash to folding will be limited to “the left” and therefore ignorable. Those people are deeply and profoundly misreading the moment and the stakes. Virtually every swing district House Dem walked the plank to vote NO for a reason.

So I’m assuming the name of Gavin Newsom’s podcast is “I Don’t Want To Be President”

I wonder if, once the GOP is done working over the federal government, they'll stop and support the government functions at the state level? Because this was all supposed to be about leaving things up to the states, right?

Part of the attack on education is the push to funnel young people into trades, but on the other hand the same people behind this push are also raising the retirement age and planning to sack Social Security. What are they expecting the generation they want to push into physical labor do?

Too many people find false comfort in the "not a citizen" part of how the state treats immigrants, regardless of their legal status. Either the law exists and means something for everyone, or it means nothing for anyone.
