Happiness is in the in-between. The good life is defined by the quality of our relationships. Consider reaching out to someone you care about who has become remote in your life. You will both be enriched. Especially consider one who thinks differently on important issues. You may find commonality.

The declination of investing in education leads to the rise of demagoguery. @philosophybites.bsky.social @thephillibrary.bsky.social @philosophymatters.bsky.social @philsci.bsky.social @philtalkradio.bsky.social @sciam.bsky.social @science.org

Pls consider reading. We all bring many assumptions to our outlook. So much hatred. Our moral fabric is unwinding. Assuredly time well spent, no matter what your angle. You will become more enlightened abt yourself, others & hopefully we can all find a way to get along. TY @jonathanhaidt.bsky.social

"We mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor" signifies the commitment to one another and the cause of freedom & community. Care/Fairness/Loyalty/Authority/Sanctity/Liberty. A spectrum. Not all value the same & there lies the angst. Let's look through alt lenses.

Is the anger people feel towards oppressors the same as the anger they feel towards cheaters?Notions of fairness must manage equality vs. proportionality of accountability.Progressives & conservatives both embrace a righteous stance, just different optics.Come together? @jonathanhaidt.bsky.social

Carl Sagan on Religion and God! “We must not believe because we want it to be true.”

Feels like science is currently being controlled for political means. "Keep science cloistered, don't try to apply it, don't try to do anything about it until men are holy." WM Miller Jr.

"I am a simpleton! We'll build a town and call it Simple Town, b/c then all the smart bastards that caused all these problems, they'll be dead. Anybody not a simpleton? Get that bastard,if there is." Canticle for Leibowitz, prescient to our times. The hatred directed at education is our downfall.

Atlas is not shrugging, he is bleeding. Ironic, tragic. @nytimes.com @washingtonpost.com @newsweek.com @sciam.bsky.social @science.org @philsci.bsky.social @thephillibrary.bsky.social @wsj.com

While Atlas bleeds, he carries forward with the intellectual world on his shoulders. Thank you @harvard.edu. For those of us committed to self-correcting intellectual growth and communal civil progress, at the most competitive levels,we are grateful!

The interconnectedness of all living things. Paraphrasing:if we decide to shut out the hard and obvious truths, affirmed through stringent cognition, for happiness derived from suspension of reason,we must expect society's declination.TY @lulumill.bsky.social. @npr.org @sciam.bsky.social @science.org

For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

Meanwhile, we are attacking Harvard et al, and the brain trust (Atlas) is bleeding (not shrugging) and leaving. Ironic.

Metaphorically, the assault on @harvard.edu represents an attack on the intellectual engine of the nation.Atlas isn't shrugging,he is bleeding. The dumbing down of America is evident in the slow decay of substantive content, a kind of celebration of ignorance. Carl Sagan

So many conservatives reference this novel as a political yarn for liberalism marginalizing our nation's intellectual capital. The exact opposite is happening now as the magnates are destroying our intellectual institutions to craft an ignorant populace.Atlas isn't shrugging,he is being struck down.

Books permit us to voyage through time, to tap the wisdom of our ancestors.

In @nytopinion.nytimes.com: “There are growing signs that artificial intelligence poses a real threat to a substantial number of the entry-level jobs that normally serve as the first step for each new generation of young workers,” writes Aneesh Raman, an executive at LinkedIn.

Humbly, obsolescence is not hyperbole.

Let's be more curious. Please considering listening and reflecting.

YN Harari: evolutionary theory greatly advances our understanding of origins & bio of species, including H. sapiens, but also undermines central myths that maintain order. No wonder that various govts & churches have banned teaching of evolution, preferring to sacrifice truth for the sake of order.

Accurate health information, based upon rigorous, peer-reviewed science, is imperative for societal well-being. How is this happening?

My goodness this is refreshing. The "live for a reward" dogma is desultory at best. Fatuous reasoning that defines moral behaviors by getting a golden ticket? Vapid, but if one needs it to keep oneself behaving properly so be it. Just please keep it to oneself and don't try to convince others.
