Safety car is now on track in Bahrain... that's a good sign. Fingers crossed we can get some more laps in today. The unexpected break is also helping me find some fellow F1 fans on here 🏎️

Day 1 of F1 pre-season testing - and we've got the first red flag of the season. Due to a power cut at the circuit in Bahrain. Bit embarrassing that such a technologically-advanced sport doesn't appear to have back-up generators etc. Some individual teams have, but not all.

Polite reminder to US politicians: you have a thing called the 25th Amendment. Use it. Your "president" is blatantly not fit for the office (and never was). And will destroy your country. And why are other world leaders not calling out his his racist, ranting stupidity? And that of his cronies.

Today, I finally finished an assignment, completed an exam.... (TW for upsetting matter) ...and one of my friends very suddenly and unexpectedly lost his wife. Words feel inadequate :( "Took her away too soon" indeed. And "Superblood Wolfmoon" goes off the playlist for now.

It's an awful, sick feeling when a previously-favourite author turns out to be an utterly horrific person. I cannot keep their books in my house now knowing what sort of person they are. They're not even going to charity shops, they're going straight in the bin. Or paper recycling.

2 days before Christmas and one of my American U2 friends is having to help her partner cope with having narrowly escaped a fatal shooting while out shopping earlier today. At least 1 person died in the incident, and again I am baffled as to why America continues to value guns over human lives.

Earlier today, Dad helped sort Christmas parcels to be given out at a local youth group. Staff had asked the children/young people what they wanted. Over half of them said food. Not sweets, cakes or Christmas treats. Regular food. Cereals and things for meals over the school holidays.

After 2 trips up town without getting Whammed... it was the local community Christmas parade that did it 😂 To be fair, it is a fun way to be knocked out of #Whamageddon so I'm not even annoyed. Lovely bright float, going round each street on the estate - really brightens up a dark evening.

A year ago today, I got on a bus to go and record an interview with @jimallthetime.bsky.social in Shrewsbury. My youngest nephew was on the same bus, going to college. We discussed Christmas plans, how it would be weird - the first one without my mum. It turned out to be the last time I saw him.
