I wish that it was easier to get someone else to see that film criticism, actual thoughtful criticism, was necessary and needed. ...and I wish I could get that person to come on board with me to bring FilmSnobbery back from the grave. I feel very alone as a film critic and professional these days.

I have incredibly mixed feelings about AICN finally disappearing. It helped a lot of films and filmmakers, helped legitimize online film criticism, and launched the writing careers of a bunch of people I like and respect, and some I call friends. But it was also a toxic hellhole run by a monster.
