This bold creature suddenly appeared about 10cms from my mobile on my desk as I was typing, presumably it came down from the ceiling passing my head by a couple of centimetres, then rapidly ran around the edge of the table, almost in my lap and I found it on the underside of the table.

The Japanese don’t do a simple breakfast like us westerners. It’s often just another main meal, especially when you’re in an airport lounge. Seen these sandwiches when out and about and finally to try one, pork with something around them. Edible. I’d rather an apple.

I’ve been sitting at the hotel entrance for the last 3.5hrs trying to snooze (because our room on 16th floor is scarily high, sister & nephew asleep up there). I’ve had piano and trumpet jazz the whole time and to say I’m not pissed off shows how much I can listen to this genre of music. It’s ok 😀

I definitely won’t be going to sleep tonight. We’re on the 16th floor with floor to ceiling windows and a roof top garden on the 14th next to reception! I could barely walk into the room, enough to get in shower and toilet. I’ll be walking the streets, soaking up the night lights.

I was hoping to see Mt Fuji as we passed so I was occasionally looking at google maps. I could remember seeing that we had passed a certain station then realised the app still said we hadn’t passed it so I refreshed it and… we were miles past it. Realised mountains in cloud we’d passed, prob Fuji 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

On the right the control station for Kyoto Shinkansen departures towards Tokyo. They’re aiming for accuracy based on 15, 30, 45 & 0 seconds. Someone must have got a massive bollocking when the train before ours Nagano to Kyoto 3 days ago was 7mins late leaving!

I’ve been in Japan 8 nights and that was the first night I was woken by the alarm! I was awake several times in the night but thankfully got back to sleep each time, and even better no need for a pee in the night. I was sleeping on the couch because I sink into the bed with it being like a duvet.

Tried the bidet function on this toilet last night. It wet my arse but didn’t dry it so I had to use bog roll. Messy 😩 I love the seat tho, moulded and my cheeks fit nicely and the best bit is that it’s heated 😀

Went to Kawaguchiko yesterday to see Mount Fuji, and ended up attempting to swing a baseball bat, sitting have a lovely meal and generally wandering. The train was rammed. Such a touristy thing to do.

I’ve got a lot of stuff but I was packing for 2 people, Roger and Romile. Dropping the large pack at a courier shortly to ship to another hotel that we’ll get to in several days. It’s how they do things in Japan. Travelling relatively light for next 3 days in the countryside.

In a rut of 3-3.5hrs sleep, get up for a pee then tired but wide awake until afternoon when dozing (on train etc) is required, then struggling until about 10pm. Sister similar and caught cold from her son. He’s getting more sleep than us. 2 adults cranky towards end day. Nephew most of time 😂 Hols!
