Implement a 100% tariff and ruin a movie. Hexagon of Sadness

The U.S. has less than 5% of the world's population but nearly 1/4 of its prisoners. That's not a justice system, it's a carceral regime. The damn country is a carceral-police regime with two right-wing parties.

Just bringing this back for no reason at all

The Constitution forbids bribery *3 separate times*. So important to the Founders they included two emoluments clauses, and made it the only named impeachable offense besides treason. The Constitution is clear on banning bribery. It's just that Congress and the courts decided to pretend otherwise.

Another example where, while the Constitution has many flaws, this isn't one of them. This results from Congress and SCOTUS deciding to ignore the Constitutional text, which specifically forbids foreign emoluments, and lists bribery as a criterion for impeachment/removal.

The fake Boston Globe front page of what a Trump presidency would look like from 2016 seems awfully fuckin' quaint now. All of it is happening, the only real difference is, in this fantasyland, the military refuses to do some of it.

I got hit by some rather sudden and extreme financial hardship so if anyone is in need of remote wetlab contract research, strictly BSL1, do let me know. Currently scrambling for gigs. Plant, Bacterial, Archaeal Non-model Bioeng Custom Lab Hardware Turn Key Genetic Design Please repost for reach 💚

Wisconsin assistant coach Jackie Crum and the players studied a book on difficult conversations and found that little things added up to a national title.

"...for protests to succeed, they must be backed by movements with the ability to promise to withhold—labor, debt payments, rent payments, or consumer support—and to follow through if demands aren’t met." Glad to have gotten the opportunity to push this line in Time time.com/collections/...

This is impoundment, it is illegal, and that should be in the headline www.npr.org/2025/05/02/n...

rainy walk to school

This is a horror beyond belief. Every other sin of this administration combined pales in comparison tbh

So, after all the "Trump backing down" reporting RE: international students, DHS's REVISED policy looks to be: DHS can/will delete SEVIS records of anyone who gets their visa cancelled (and if DHS tells State "hey, this person has a 15 year old arrest," State's going to cancel their visa). Thoughts?

The Canadian election result shows that the 2024 US election might have gone very differently if American voters could somehow have known in advance what it would be like to have Donald Trump as president

I feel like I’m losing my mind with the lack of wall to wall coverage on disappearing *children with cancer* i keep saying this, but it’s not 5% of the uproar that came from Biden’s debate. “kids peeing in litter boxes”, a thing that never happened, got orders of magnitude more coverage.

- He hasn’t accepted that he’s a lame duck - The process, whatever its outcome, is an extended news event that will inform and influence American voters - It would give the Senate Democrats another chance to try making it a real trial of the facts -It’s the only remedy the Constitution affords us

Thank you to the 40-50 folks who came out with us on a beautiful spring afternoon to support the US Constitution.

not quite germany but it will have to do

My friend @drmisserin.bsky.social and I started a neighborhood protest series. We’re doing it again today. I hope local Madison folks can join us, and I encourage everyone to start their own neighborhood protests too. events.pol-rev.com/events/14a56...

ACLU says another three US citizen children were disappeared from their own country today: www.aclu.org/press-releas...

Reminder that words matter. You can’t “deport” a US citizen. You might be kidnapping, disappearing, exiling, expelling, illegally removing, etc., but you’re not “deporting” a US citizen.

Nothing to see here. Just the justice minister promising to purge the judiciary of its political opponents. Fortunately, this has never happened under authoritarian regimes anywhere in the world in history.

Now they came for judges

One thing you have to keep in mind with history is that everything seems impossible until it isn't. This is why you have to fight for what is right even if it seems impossible. Trumpism seems overwhelming now, but that doesn't mean it's going to last forever. It might suddenly collapse! 1/x

Previous to the FDA, folks would put chalk and plaster of Paris in milk to make it appear white. They could also add formaldehyde to cover the smell and taste of spoiled milk.

@umich.edu Senate Motions passed with overwhelming majorities -- unprecedented margins and an unprecedented 40.7% participation rate. An utter triumph.

Tradition states that last night Jesus emptied out all the jails. Spent Saturday night telling people “I don’t care what you did, people weren’t made for prisons.” The next day to prove His point He broke out of solitary. It is finished. Easter is incompatible with the carceral state. Happy Easter.

Χριστὸς ἀνέστη

Personally, I think it should be front page news for at least a month if a sitting US President is using falsified evidence to try and deny due process to a man who has committed no crime, but that’s just me
