What a film. Nolan's Batman films really show modern superhero filmmaking up in every conceivable way. The writing alone is leagues ahead of pretty much everything else.

The story itself isn't too bad, but the Doctor Who style creature designs are fairly laughable. And then the budget constraints play such a huge part.

A surprisingly entertaining war film. Lots of action. Lots of shooting. Lots of explosions. Told from both sides.

Like the disappearance of Atlantis, the lost are of blockbuster filmmaking is puzzling. How can this film made 20 years ago look better in every respect than a modern blockbuster? While costing less. With better actors, directors, writers, editor - everything?

Keishi Kondo's haunting story of a bereaved call girl and a photographer, New Religion, is coming out on Blu-ray. We look at the extras www.eyeforfilm.co.uk/dvdreview/ne... #filmsky 🎬

Sam Raimi directs from a Coen Brothers script. One of the more bizarre films you're likely to see. It's a mess but there are lots of really interesting things in it. Also, Brice Campbell.

Sure, it's dumb and stupid at times, but Running Scared is actually really enjoyable as well. Crystal and Hines have a great rapport and the lines just keep coming. Some surprisingly decent action sequences as well.

The Mummy was roundly panned at the time of release, but after years of streaming slop it actually feels like a much better film now. Sure, some of the CGI is bad and Boutella can't act, but there are some more than decent action sequences here.

A mix of Okja (nice concept poorly realised) and Snowpiercer (badly written and paced), there are lots of nice moments and lots of effort gone into the sets/design but ultimately Bong needs an English writer. It feels cobbled together and lacks any nuance.

I'm watching Igby Goes Down - a favourite film from my youth - Kieran Culkin (in his best film role to date imo) Claire Danes, Susan Sarandon, Jeff Goldblum, Amanda Peet 💖 - incredible cast AND with ice cream sundaes. If you haven't watched it, you must.

Interesting doc about a young boy's journey to a potentially brighter future. It does feel a little thin, but there's some nice stuff in it.

I really struggled to get past the animal animation. It's an indie video game with some really nice backgrounds. Whilst it's well done, it's also very heavy handed.

Hyams' crime drama has its moments but the tone oscillates so frequently that your head might fall off.

A surprisingly entertaining sci-fi B move which finds terror amongst the deep. Also unexplainable other stuff.

I thought this might be fun, but a mix of sloppy writing, poor direction and rather mixed acting makes it entirely flimsy and throwaway. The timing and tone and off far too often.

This is obviously an important film and a difficult subject but the POV cinematography and stylish tics worked against the emotive nature of the subject for me. It's a good film, well made, acted etc, but didn't really have the impact it deserved.

I remember this being great fun as a kid and it still holds up surprisingly well. Much is this is down to some really great writing and the emphasis on it being fun.

As bad as you'd expect but also surprisingly entertaining at times. Cast do decent work, considering. Another 2-star cinema film and there's nothing wrong with that.

It looks nice and I like the score but this felt like an interesting idea badly executed. It is strangely watchable but a bit of a mess.

Everything here is done well. Nice and polished. By the Wikipedia. Entertaining enough and also entirely forgettable. The best things in it are Fanning and Norton. And the music.

Sheen strains to act in this entirely ridiculous sci-fi. I'd never heard of it before but now I know why!

anyone seen this? I've never heard of it before. youtu.be/oJGo2rvfSuA

High jinx in the desert. Some great action choreography and good chemistry between the 4 leads makes this very entertaining. Lots of ingrnuous and unexpected moments.

Beautifully and painstakingly made animation which works both as a piece of entertainment and something much deeper. Very much up there on a par with Mary and Max. It's a shame we can't clone Elliot so we can have many more films like this.

It's one heck of an achievement and Harris/Mastrantonio are superb, but I don't really think it retains the same impact on repeat viewings. It's still moving but it feels far too sluggish.

Looks good. There are some terrible music choices. Craig is very watchable but I found it fairly boring and overly stretched. All the visual tricks can't make up for that.

I had no knowledge of this film's existence. After watching it, I'll probably soon forget it ever existed. Competent, mostly, but extremely unoriginal. The plot/writing is so bog standard it's almost funny. Some nice backdrops.

Beautiful cinematography. An impressive lead performance and really clever direction. The backdrop is one heck of a set to play in. A thoughtful take on the 'Chinese dream'.

A moderately entertaining film which shoots itself in the foot with its lack of logic. I'm surprised by all the good reviews. The action is pretty badly handled and the writing is unimaginative and sloppy. It's a nice idea, badly realised.

A TV movie version of Judgement Night. Actually, not terrible but also not good.

The horror elements are not done very well but oddly the story is fairly engaging.

PSA: Great film now available on demand on C4. youtu.be/gLYRErP4_Ws?...

This is a 2-star old-fashioned cinema film. Entertaining enough but actually pretty rubbish. The issues here are a mix of zero stakes, bad guys whose actions make no sense & a plot with more holes than a gorgonzola. Far too unbelievable to ever be tense or make your pulse race.

Your quintessential 6/10 film. Poorly written, poorly acted, some really shoddy effects and nothing else but a big money-making endeavour. Not good. Not bad. Completely forgettable.

I see Apple is at it as well. All large US tech companies should be treated as state propaganda instruments now and nothing they produce or host should be trusted.

Stylish and sexy. There's a lot here, much of which is good. It's also a little messy as well. Very much a peace of art though. Very singular.

A good film with good performances, although both get worse over time. Starts off a lot hotter than it finishes.

Such a wonderful and charming comedy. Not seen this for a long time, but it still stands up. Remarkable considering how old it is. The chemistry between the two leads makes it irresistible.

It's obviously a very slight version of the books, but it's still fairly entertaining. Lots of acting talent on display. Lots of nice detail and sets.

A slightly undercooked romance/sci-fi which plays out more like a romantic drama than an engaging sci-fi. Morton is excellent, as ever, but there's no strong narrative to make it feel like anything other than forgettable.

Another terrible Indy rip-off with some laughable effects and fairly poor action. There are, however, a few moments when you think it might get getter. Some decent set-ups. And Stone is good value.
