Today, May 5, is #RedDressDay, honouring missing and murdered indigenous women, girls and two-spirit people. We join Indigenous communities in honouring those whose lives have been taken and those whose stories are still unknown. And we recommit to the fight for justice and safety. #MMIWG2S #BCLab

One of those cases where I vehemently recommend against "Yes and" energy.

Oh, ffs. I just bought one, too.

"Resurgent conservatives torpedoed by Trump" is a trend I can get behind. www.cbc.ca/news/world/a...

Not the greatest photo, but I was still plenty thrilled to see these guys out in English Bay. I’d been so engrossed watching two seals bobbing up and down in the waves that I nearly missed these sea lions. I think it’s the first time I’ve seen them off the Kitsilano shoreline.

BREAKING: Nation’s biological clocks breathe sigh of relief

Help me out, folks... there was a New York Times piece a few years ago about a supposed Canadian trend, that got a ton of Canadians weighing in saying they'd never heard of it. Anyone remember what that was?

Tanille Johnston's 10-point lead over Aaron Gunn is giving me life. #cdnelxn

Final hour of voting! If you're in line before polls close, you WILL be able to vote — so now's the time to head to your polling place!

This viral photo of a ‘Liberal Boomer’ is missing context. He was being harassed by far-right activists. A Liberal supporter is now facing doxxing and intense online harassment after an aggressive group of far-right activists crashed a Mark Carney event

April 28 is the National Day of Mourning for workers killed, injured or made sick by their work. Join us for the provincial ceremony at Vancouver's Jack Poole Plaza at 10 am. Or find a ceremony near you at dayofmourning.bc.ca. We mourn the dead. And we fight—all year long—for the living. #BCLab

One of the things that surfaces at moments like this is the ghoulish cottage industry of bottom-feeders who use tragedy as fodder for engagement farming and clout-chasing. Give me a button for reporting those posts, and I'll be mashing it until dawn.

We're expecting another update from Vancouver Police later tonight about the tragedy at Lapu Lapu Day. After that, we probably won't know much more for many hours. Given the global attention already on it, a lot of speculation will inevitably happen. The best thing you can do is not amplify it.

We are shaken by the terrible news tonight from the Lapu-Lapu Day block party in Vancouver. We're heartbroken at the loss of life, and our thoughts and solidarity are with the Filipino community and everyone who was affected.

Memo to Yves Blanchet: another term for "artificial country" is "country."

Please do vote on Monday. And make a plan so you can be sure you'll be able to (funny how the day creeps up on you!)

@todmaffin.com for Governor General!* *I wouldn’t wish Prime Minister on anyone.

Trying to wrap my mind around this, and whether it's useful or one more goddamn place for the thing you're looking for to hide. Teams is already such a Where's Waldo of information: Was it posted in the group chat? One-on-one chat? A channel? Which one? support.microsoft.com/en-us/office...

Spammers are flooding TikTok with pro-Conservative content A new investigation from @pivot.quebec finds that a small number of mostly pro-Conservative accounts are responsible for 15% of comments on election-related videos

I'm old enough to remember the GOP completely losing their shit when Michelle Obama planted an organic vegetable garden.

Really need journalists to push back on this bullshit. When they say this, just ask them point blank: "Are you saying that because one Latino man committed a murder, another Latino man deserves a life sentence? Do you think all Latino men interchangeable?"

I think my favourite iOS feature is the way my phone just randomly forgets it's logged into an app or two or fifteen.

I can't speak to the quality of the advice in the post, and mercifully I've never had this kind of boss. But that photo is just A+++.

Two headlines in the New York Times today.

Apparently having to do several hundred captchas a day keeps your brain pretty spry.

“Never have we so hurt and mistreated our common home as we have in the last two hundred years. Reducing greenhouse gases requires honesty, courage and responsibility. Those who will have to suffer the consequences will not forget this failure of conscience and responsibility.” — Pope Francis
