We should all be disgusted by the flood of anti-Muslim remarks spewed in the aftermath of Zohran Mamdani’s victory in the NYC mayoral primary — some blatant, others latent. Shame on the members of Congress who have engaged in such bigotry and anyone who doesn’t challenge it.

A NYC candidate for mayor has called for reconsidering rent control in that city, while congressional Republicans are advancing a bill that would take a trillion dollars in health care away from working people all across America, but guess which one the pundits are all over right now?

Folks can argue about the relevancy of the “Democratic socialist” label all day. But if that’s what you’re hung up on, you’re missing the larger point. People aren’t chasing labels. They’re chasing change. Real, structural, unapologetic change. 🧵

It’s hard to overstate how angry rank and file Dems are at the Dem establishment right now. And if I were a self-preservationist incumbent I would take note.

Here's your periodic reminder that political centrism is nonsense. There is no middle ground between democracy and oligarchy.

This. Time to say goodbye, thank you and move along to the tired GOP lite Dem establishment. Listen to the base. Listen to new generations. Listen for new ideas. Embrace, celebrate, real change.

Wake up Democratic Party old guard establishment. This isn’t about New York City. This is the way the wind is blowing. Step aside for young people who this country will need over the next several decades long after you are gone. Enough with your egos and the big money interests.

Anyone still want to argue that John Roberts isn’t the worst Chief Justice in SCOTUS history?

This is the big story of today. Contrary to most news coverage. SCOTUS drops a Constitution buster on us all.

We're in uncharted territory with this SCOTUS. They're making decisions--without regard to precedent, without regard to norms, without regard to justice, without regard to the impact on the rule of law in the U.S., without regard to consequences, and very often with a complete lack of transparency.

I didn’t have the Supreme Court destroying the authority of federal district courts on my bingo card. But in retrospect that’s perhaps where all this shadow docket decision-making was going all along. Really scary stuff.

AOC Zohran for Mayor rally: “…not ranking Andrew Cuomo [but voting 1 for Mamdani&2 Lander] is the right thing 2do 2turn the page on the future of Democratic Party that does not continue 2repeat the mistakes that have landed us here in the 1st place. We will never get past Donald Trump 1/

AOC during Zohran for Mayor rally: "There are people out there who say, 'If you go out and make this endorsement, your political career will be over.' And to that I say: I don't care. We will never get to a better place if everyone is just worried about themselves. If it's over, so be it."

Deadline past, but still good ad all through & including (especially) very end.

According to the latest WaPo/Schar School poll, Trump’s handling of deportations has 37% approval, 52% disapproval. And Quinnipiac has it at 40% approval, 56% disapproval. But @facethenation.bsky.social insists “public approval is so high on deportation.”

With the tragic assassination of a Minnesota Democratic leader, I’m going to underline this point again.

This.👇

In Ep 223, "The Empire Strikes First Part II — ‘Abundance’ Pablum as Counter to Left Populism," we detail the sudden ubiquity of Abundance Discourse, its conspicuous lack of class politics, and the booming market for a donor-friendly vision for Dems in 2028

podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t... SubTitle below is deceiving. It’s actually an interview with Abdul El-Sayed, given his recent announcement to run for the Senate. Really impressive. 👍🏾 @abdulelsayed.bsky.social @anandwrites.bsky.social

Q: "How do you respond to Governor Newsom?" Sen. Van Hollen: "I think Americans are tired of elected officials or politicians who are all finger to the wind...Anybody who can't stand up for the Constitution and the right of due process doesn't deserve to lead."

It reflected a sorry state of affairs that Alito's neighbor had more courage to stand up to his bullying and lies than did the (emphatically former) Democratic Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Don't miss my convo with Emily Baden on @legalafmtn.bsky.social youtu.be/DHrklPaeC1Y?...

I care less about Signal chats and more about the blacksite offshore concentration camps we're sending random people to without any semblance of a trial, so I'll be interested to see if the national media can rub their bellies and pat their heads at the same time this week. Historically they can't.
