Parasite Eve is Squaresoft’s 1998 entry into the survival horror genre. Unlike its peers, this game uses a combat system that combines free roaming of the combat field along with some traditional turn based JRPG elements to give it a dynamic feel similar to what Kingdom Hearts would become.

Just thinking about the nightmarish World War 2 Mickey Mouse gas masks. Don’t mind me.

#Philly is actually out here setting ice vehicles on fire. Go Birds!

Stonekeep is a 1995 FMV dungeon crawler released by Interplay. While many games of this style and era didn’t age so well, Stonekeep stands put with its more intuitive dungeon crawling mechanics. The visuals, not so much, but they make for an interesting time capsule of what pc gaming was like.

My partner brought up interesting thought about PlayStation 1 - most games are just throwing things at stuff. I wanted to argue against that point, but the more games I tried, the more I realized #PS1 has a lot of games where you throw stuff as a core mechanic.

Stop what you’re doing and go practice your instrument #bass

Mad Panic Coaster is a 1997 Japan exclusive PlayStation 1 games that I would consider a hidden gem. The gameplay is similar to something you might see on Temple Run or Subway Surfers, but with a skate punk soundtrack and a spooky carnival vibe. This is a fun and challenging sleeper of a game

Want a PlayStation 1 hidden gem? How about Akuji the Heartless - This 1998 hack and slash platformer is a fun and well balanced game. The graphics are a bit crunchy as was the style at the time, but they have a nice nostalgic vibe. This game is pretty dark, it’s wild that it didn’t get an M rating.

Fun Fact: Scrub Daddy has a store you can visit and even has a claw machine you can win scrub daddies from

Sega Marine Fishing is a 20000 Dreamcast port of the same named arcade title and is the sequel to Sega Bass Fishing. While this offers the same compelling arcade style gameplay, it introduces more fish variety to keep things interesting as well as your own relaxing aquarium to decorate with unlocks

Mutant League Football, much like its hockey sequel, takes the classic Electronic Arts Madden football formula and adds the violence missing from traditional football. This 1993 oddity has become quite prized by collectors of the Genesis, a complete copy includes a set of trading cards. Go Birds! 🦅

Honey, we’re having company. Take out the good #fingerboards

You won’t last five minutes playing this game…..the first time at least #videogames

The Typing of the Dead is a 2001 Dreamcast port of the same named Japanese arcade game. It is essentially The House of the Desd 2 but all the guns have been comically replaced with keyboards and Dreamcast backpacks. This game unironically made me better at typing and is a lot of fun #videogames

While many people have very fond memories of the iconic Electronics Arts hockey games for Sega Genesis, there exists another game in that line-up that appeals more to the Sega crowd. Mutant League Hockey combines the beloved 16 bit gameplay with 90s monsters for a total sleeper of a game #videogames

My PC Engine joystick board is almost working. It just needs one more pcb revision to correct some routing issues. Too bad PCBs now cost triple what they cost me 4 days ago. I hate being an American #pcb #maker

I was today years old when I learned that Avril Lavign’s signature look from Complicated was lifted from a Butch Walker album cover she saw while in the studio recording Let Go

Have you ever seen the full art for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles NES game? Well here it is! It was also used as the cover for the 1987 reprint of Eastman and Lairds’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles volume 4. The turtles all wear red because colored masks were popularized by the cartoon #videogames

I choose to call this American gashapon. Wild that these are still being used, you never see these old egg machines anymore #mildlyinteresting

What is the best RPG for Gameboy Advance that isn’t Pokémon? That’s easy! Golden Sun! Released in 2001, Golden Sun pretty much ticks ask the boxes for a traditional turn based jrpg and does it exceptionally well. This one is a must play for traditional rpg fans. #videogames

Sim Copter is a 1996 helicopter flight simulator with a silly Easter egg implemented by a disgruntled employee. On specific dates like Friday the 13th, a bunch of Speedo-wearing muscle men appear and start kissing each other. A code error caused the Easter egg to appear far more often. #videogames

The world sucks right now, but at least I got my Horse the Band tickets

One of my favorite Super Famicom Games that the USA never got was Majuuou or King of Demons. This excellent 1995 action platformer shooter comes with monster transformation mechanics similar to altered beast and is loaded with some of the most beautiful spritework on the console. #videogames

Alien Storm is a 1991 US Gold port of the 1990 arcade game of the same name. Alien Storm is a hybrid shooter/beat ‘em up that feels very similar to the Aliens arcade game. One could absolutely describe this as Golden Axe in space, as it looks and feels very very similar. #videogames

I’m not just Terror, I’m Dark Gothic Terror #guitarmemes

A Nightmare on Elm Street is a unique 1990 platformer released by LJN on the NES exclusively in America. Unlike most NES games, this game offered four player simultaneously with the multitap. Four player was pretty much a novelty until the N64, but this platformer made great use of it #videogames

It’s 1992, your mom just gave you 25 cents. Which one you picking? #90s #toys

Custom set because Drop A doesn’t like to hold intonation with anything I can find in a retail set. If anyone’s wondering: D’Addario Custom Singles XL Nickel .045 - .060 - .080 - .105 - .160 #Bassist

The early to mid 90s saw a lot of full motion video worked into video games, and Harvester is one of the goriest examples out there. This 1996 horror point and click combines puzzle solving with enough fairly realistic gore to still stand out as one of the goriest games ever #videogames #horror

While Doom may be the most important FPS of all time, Wolfenstein 3D paved the way for it to exist. In this 1992 ID software shooter, all you do it kill Nazis and find the exit. Though primitive, it is still a fantastic game and who doesn’t love killing Nazis? #videogames

Let’s just make it clear where I stand on this matter #elonmusk

Here’s one first party #Nintendo IP America never got due to the satanic panic. Devil World - it’s almost Pac-Man but with too much “Satanic Imagery” for the American market. Ironically now you can play it on switch.

A while back, my shitty Roomate stole my prized original copy of Splatterhouse 3. I was crushed when I learned it was gone and couldn’t afford to replace it. One of my best friends just surprised me with a loose copy. I’m just happy to have it again, anyone selling a manual? #videogames

Bloody Wolf is a PC Engine run and gun shmup arcade port released by Data East in 1989. This game can best be described as a mixture of NES Metal Gear and Metal Slug. One feature I love is that you can get a motorcycle power up that the game totally didn’t need to have, yet it does. #videogames

Chiller is an obscure and controversial port of the the same named arcade shooter. You play a torturer and pretty much just kill everything on the screen. It is undoubtedly the most violent game to come out on nes by a landslide and and a physical copy can costs easily over $150 loose #videogames
