Call me sour, but EVERY mention of this "victory" should acknowledge that it's funded entirely by the profits of ongoing fossil-fuel production. Since the IEA said "no more new oil and gas fields if we are to hit net zero by 2050" in 2021, Norway has issued >150 new production licenses.

A plea on behalf of journal editors everywhere.. When you receive a request to review, answer it. Declining is (from everyone's perspective) far preferable to not answering at all, which just leaves everyone - not least the author - in limbo. You wouldn't your paper delayed. Don't delay others'.

Our new AJS article shows that high earning family and work life courses are remarkably similar in different countries, but differ much for low earners. This is related to country specific policies structuring especially the low-earning life courses. www.journals.uchicago.edu/doi/abs/10.1...

Some very wealthy people are arguing it’s unfair to close inheritance tax loopholes because they bought farmland specifically to avoid inheritance tax. What’s odd is that they’re making that case *out-loud*. And seem to think it’s an argument that will provoke sympathy.

This. If you invite 40 people to a 2 hour meeting, or get them to complete 2 hrs of paperwork, you’re effectively ‘spending’ 2 weeks’ worth of productive institutional time…

Does money buy happiness? Some may recall findings from an adversarial collaboration that concluded that happiness keeps increasing with log(income) even at high incomes, but not among the unhappiest. I found that "resolution" extremely confusing at the time.> www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/...

Now the day came that I had to reject a paper because we couldn’t find a single reviewer for it (after 20+ tries). And yes, it was on an LMIC country. And that’s a pattern. How’s that for social scientists’ open-mindedness?
