Everything you hate about Prince Andrew combined with everything you hate about Michelle Mone. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Classic Streisand Effect. I'd never heard of this podcast but I have now. Plus working out how we can install a heat pump, so win-win. The BBC's idea of what is 'public controversy' is pretty weird.

The most impressive thing about the Catholic church is that they can stretch out every little moment of the death of a pope / appointment of the new one so that it dominates the news cycle for DAYS.

Wait, what?? deadline.com/2025/04/fyre...

Camden council suggest we follow 5 steps when purchasing “your electric scooter”… without mentioning that they are ILLEGAL on all roads (except private roads).

I’m so done with super rich celebs flying to the edge of space using vast quantities of fossil fuels only to gasp at how beautiful and fragile Earth is.

What the hell is 'corporate aristocracy'? www.bbc.com/news/article...

Take your pick of Trump apologists in the Telegraph. Your choices are - it's just chaos! Enjoy. Or... - it's the Dems fault, obvs. Or... - the bond market wins again, poor Donald and his nice Tariffs. Amazing.

Is there a worse consumer system than ticketmaster? "Here's a seat! Oh no, it's gone." All designed to make you feel grateful that you've paid at least three times your initial budget. Bastards.

This weekend, the so-called "Tesla Shield" came out to defend Elon Musk and counter the #TeslaTakedown protests. Among those taking part: • MAGA • Proud Boys • Armed Militias • And a guy dressed as Hitler www.wired.com/story/proud-...

Justin Welby can fuck right off - as can the BBC for putting this self-serving bullshit as their top story.

Baby Reindeer is simultaneously great drama and very problematic re 'truth' & real life consequences. While the Baftas focus on the former, it seems odd that the Harvey / Netflix defamation case is due in May and it's getting 8(!) nominations. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Every time I see a picture of Andrew Tate (which is too fkn often in any case), his brother is lurking in the background. What's the deal with that guy? Shouldn't Andrew be telling him to go get his own life? www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

This is the weirdest bit of journalism - a full package on Lucy Letby which exists in the parallel universe where she's 100% guilty, when there's the expert panel that say these were all explainable deaths, but it's not even mentioned! www.bbc.co.uk/news/resourc...

Staggering to think that one person could save literally millions of lives. www.bbc.com/news/article...

Fool me once… www.nme.com/news/music/f...

I just watched the first episode of 'With Love, Meghan'. Here's what I learned. - absolutely nothing. - well, she cooks pasta weirdly. - you should make 'moments' for your houseguests It's very soporific.

Why haven’t we confiscated and auctioned Wittanhurst?

The perils of a weekly magazine.

I find this story problematic (as well as v disturbing and horrific). If Booth has a worldwide travel ban to prevent him from meeting & exploiting women, he's been deemed a danger to women. Is he not a danger to those in the UK? So shouldn't be be in jail? www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I find this amazing. People MUST know about the scam / disaster that was Fyre Festival I. Why on earth would you sign up to II with the *same guy* who went to prison for the first festival? For $xx,xxx ?? I'm sure this one will work out. qz.com/fyre-festiva...

The halftime analysis on the BBC of Wales Ireland 6N has been first class. Graphics, stats, insight - complete deal. So impressive.

Google's AI can just be plain wrong. (Isner won)

This is such a weird take. Gail's bakery uses 'AI' (it doesn't, it just uses combined datasets) to work out where to open new outlets. Do you think Pret or Greggs just open stores at random? Also 'admits' suggests it's somehow cheating or something. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article...

This is it, in a nutshell. It's both a failure of media, and us as consumers of it who are drawn to scandals uncovered rather than in plain sight. So painfully true.

This looks like an average ITV drama.

I watched an episode of Piers Morgan's show to see if it had anything useful to add. Thoughts: 1) I'm sure each guest might have a few interesting things to say, but they all interrupt each other waay too much 2) Morgan is lazy. He asks reductive questions and shouts if he doesn't get simple answers

Sad to read about the death of a great editor, Andy Slade, who was incredibly patient and kind to me, and funny as hell to boot. www.ft.com/content/76e8...

Kill the drama, kill the World Cup. It's not about sportswashing, it's about the format.

This BBC article is all about Rodmersham in Kent and planning/housing. These are the two pictures you get when you google Rodmersham. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Great for Harry Brook to get no1 in test cricket rankings. Interesting fact: that 317 he scored in Multan still accounts for 14% of his total test runs. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricke...

New post just out: Why it's so hard to get a GP appointment. (It's not for the reasons you might think). And why the answer is key to fixing the NHS. (£/free trial) open.substack.com/pub/samf/p/w...

Your Sunday political geekery is out - a piece on why on Tuesday you'll probably see news about why young people aren't working. And it's important, but it ain't new. politicaldatacookbook.substack.com/p/young-peop...
