@reckless.bsky.social anyone know if the 10% China tariffs include iphones? Did Tim do his job?

@hankgreen.bsky.social saw your home screen on Installer and now I’m super curious, what language are you learning? And are you actually keeping up with it or do you have a very annoyed bird in your phone like i do? 😂

@theverge.com fyi, trying to open the comments hasn’t been going very well for me for a week or so….

Spent the entire day figuring out all the ways you can’t accomplish what I’m trying to do with swift UI. I’m going to pretend that was super productive to avoid screaming.

Final disneyland tally of people asking “no, but where are you from?” Five. Cake topper. “No, that’s your area code. What’s your COUNTRY code?” Uhhhhh 1?

You know things have gone sideways when the firmware engineer has to write UI code.

While i don’t think they’re polar opposites, it is interesting how different the vibes are between the @kylierobison.com segment of the vergecast and the recent @caseynewton.bsky.social newsletter are.

Trying to sort my follows into a “tech” list and a “reminds me society is crumbling” list and this venn diagram is uncomfortably circle shaped.

And what if i want a polymorphic value type swift, huh??? WHAT THEN?!

Nothing like the banal dystopian horror of the surveillance bot thanking me for shopping at QFC.

I would have kept posting the mundane shit programmers actually do this week but instead most of Seattle lost power and my life became an exciting game of “make a fire to keep the family warm” and “where the fuck did i leave the other flashlight”.

@hankgreen.bsky.social after the latest dear Hank and John… Wait, so trees are basically a fancy precipitate of atmospheric soup?

Meeting 573 about whether the work we all agree needs to be accomplished should be associated with an existing project or be classified as a new project.

One of our giant bags of data got updated. New values, new types for existing values, deleted values, the whole shebang. That means I got to spend all of today updating the giant shim layer translating the POD into a dictionary and back. Still doesn’t work on some hardware 😤

My daily struggle is finding music chill enough to not distract me while working but engaging enough to keep me from opening bluesky while waiting for something to compile, install, reboot, download
