So pleased to have Jon say these lovely things about our book, available for pre-order now. I’m also available for school/library/festival/crisp factory visits, so feel free to message. @theemmapress.bsky.social @reenamakwana.bsky.social #kidlit #childrensbooks

Thanks very much to Mat Tobin for these lovely comments. Less than a month to official release date. Pre-orders from theemmapress.com/shop/childre...

Post-Whitley Bay Parkrun. First Timers’ Briefing, then hobbling around, then coffee, books and bath. There was sunshine! #parkrun

Pre-orders help the publisher - @theemmapress.bsky.social - and maybe even the strange author bloke. Link in my bio (possibly).

Delighted to get my mucky paws on this early copy of @robwaltonwriter.bsky.social’s first collection of short stories, ponderings and general slantwise looks at life from deep down where the footnotes dwell. Totally original and entertaining, & out in a month from @theemmapress.bsky.social #kidlituk

Thanks to @lib4sch.bsky.social and Catherine and @theemmapress.bsky.social for this - but special thanks to that @robwaltonwriter.bsky.social bloke.

Picking my younger daughter up from work, so I’ve made her a BLT* sandwich to reward her efforts. All sustainably-sourced ingredients from a local farmers’ market. *Belt and Lace Treat.

A grey day in Shropshire made so much brighter by my first visit to The Poetry Pharmacy. @poetrypharmacy.bsky.social Coffee and staff perked me up so I could attempt to make some book-buying decisions - impossible - but it’s a start!

There’s a very good chance it’s a grey day where you are - so why not let some colour into your life by pre-ordering @attielime.bsky.social wonderful poetry collection from @otterbarrybooks.bsky.social #banishthegrey #votecolour

I seem to have found some boxes of books. The books seem to have been written by me. #kidlit #childrensbooks

Post-Rising Sun Parkrun. A little confession: this is not a real Snickers. It’s a snide Aldi ‘Racer’, but I used my graphic design skills to disguise this.

Lovely to be here.

Thanks to all at @theemmapress.bsky.social and @reenamakwana.bsky.social for bringing the beautiful Sunshine to the cover.

I went from 2024 to 2025 with an awesome Tyger and @whatsfsaid.bsky.social I had a cry & a cheer & thought about knowing who your friends & enemies are, & love & drawing & writing & all of our tomorrows. What @frankcottrellboyce.bsky.social & @malorieblackman.bsky.social said is so true.

Always a treat to be in Aotearoa New Zealand‘s Flash Frontier. New edition:Circle | Porowhita issue. Thanks to Eds Michelle Elvy,James Norcliffe,Mikaela Nyman,Vaughan Rapatahana, Rachel Smith & Iona Winter. #flashfiction #microfiction The rest & the whole thing at flashfrontier.com/december-202...

At this time for reflection, I imagine there are quite a few of you out there fondly looking back at the days when you could post crisps without the need for a barcode. #spiritofchristmaspast #spiritofchristmas @royalmail.bsky.social

@chadpie.bsky.social has a brilliant poem, Closing Time, in the new issue of Under the Radar from @ninearchespress.bsky.social A great start to my day.

As festive bunting goes, it leaves a little to be desired. #decemberdecor #christmaskhazi #yuletideurinal

Many thanks to Jane Command, Matt Merritt and guest editor @calebparkinpoet.bsky.social for including my poem, Ripon Cathedral, in the Sound issue of Under the Radar.

Thanks, as always, to super-efficient editor Jonathan Humble for very quickly hosting a couple of my seasonal things over at The Dirigible Balloon. All of these and many more at dirigibleballoon.org/poem/O-Tanne....

Visited my older daughter and sought the true meaning/spirit of Christmas. Think I just about found it.

Delighted to be part of Paper Swans Press advent calendar. Daily additions over on instagram.

Back in 2017 this thing of mine was in a shop window in Marsden, the poetry village, during the Jazz Festival. I’d forgotten all about it until they asked if they could re-print it and put it an exhibition in The Mechanics Hall during this year’s Jazz Festival. Which they did. Which was nice.

Post-Windy Nook run. Luvverly sunny morning on Tyneside followed by obligatory books and liquid refreshment in the bath.

Thanks to editor David Cooke for selecting a thing of mine for the Winter issue of The High Window. The whole poem and lots of quality work from others at thehighwindowpress.com/2024/11/27/w...

@patricknessbooks.bsky.social is spot on here. Adult book reviewers are doing all readers and writers a disservice.

I love inscriptions in books, but just found this one, which is a little stranger than the usual “To Bert, love Mary, Xmas 1971”. #merseypoets #yourenicked

Moving on to final edits for this, coming out next March from The Emma Press. #KidLit

Delighted to be back aboard @TheDirigible, thanks to super-speedy response and kind words from brilliant editor @JonathanHumble. Read the rest of these and lots of other festive goodies on the website. dirigibleballoon.org

Started my day with a cup of tea and the brilliant Lyffe Lines by @GillianShearer7 in the new Postbox magazine from @RedSquirrelPres. It’s quite cold in Whitley Bay, but that’s warmed me up. I’ve dried my eyes now, so I’ll have another cuppa and another story.
