Not only was this a very good SNL to wash away the sour taste of last week's very bad SNL, I realized it was weirdly fine to show my daughter almost in its entirety, skipping just the cold open and Update (more out of hackiness than anything) plus that sketch with the "come into some money" joke.

Truly strange example of the streaming ecosystem: The classic Daffy Duck short Duck Amuck is currently not available on MAX (which has a drastically reduced & spotty selection of Looney Tunes right now). It IS available on Hulu, but ONLY if you subscribe to Hulu & Max in a bundle?

governments should spend money, literally all their fucking money. on taking care of the people from whom they got the money. on building cool shit for the people from whom they got the money to use, like highways and public works. this is real easy how can these people be so bad at this

I got basically the last seat at my hometown coffee shop/former high school hangout that has basically doubled in size since I first started coming here and I'm starting to wonder if this is in fact yuppie HQ. Whoops!

I loved Soderbergh's BLACK BAG. This will not surprise you. But what the movie actually is surprised me a bit. Reviewed for Paste: www.pastemagazine.com/movies/steve...

Together Again! Get someone who looks at you like Paul W.S. Anderson looks a Milla Jovovich: www.avclub.com/together-aga...

I got a new (well, new to me) iPod. Yes, it is 2025. Today I listened to Boygenius, Caroline Rose, and High Vis.

Who do we think QT voted for in Best Director, btw? Part of me thinks Fargeat but I could see him making a left-field case for Mangold, saying ANORA has the wrong ending or something.

Thank u Karla, you did one good thing!

Still doing the math on why Daryl Hannah presented editing. No offense to her but she hasn't really been in movies lately, she's not quite legendary, and that KILL BILL anniversary was a lie; it turned 20 last year. Isn't that like bringing out Matthew Broderick? Tom Selleck? Gretchen Mol?

Just show cliiiiiiiiiips ffs

Shane Gillis SNL episode gonna go over huge with people who say "skit"

No lies detected

I don't always cross-post with Twitter but some of my actual friends are on here more and I feel like I need to share the utter chaos of E's DCEU rankings

I did some really fun work for Decider last week related to the Oscars. First, this is nutty, but I actually hadn't written about THE BRUTALIST before?! Not for lack of trying. Sometimes seeing a December movie in September doesn't actually help. Anyway here's my rec! decider.com/2025/03/01/w...

Ugh I can't believe I have to wait for people to inevitably flake out on going before I can buy Rilo Kiley tickets for face

I took my then-five-year-old kid to see it at the drive-in during lockdown and sat stone-faced throughout. To be honest, she didn't laugh that much either, though she did offer some sober analysis ("that donkey would not stop talking").

Men 8+ only want 1-3 things and it's disgusting

My alarm went off at 547am this morning. Like a psycho, I always immediately check the socials to see what news has happened overnight. I saw the Gene Hackman news, and fired off an email to @glennkenny.bsky.social at 552am. Glenn was able to match my freak, and replied to me at 554am.

Gene Hackman 😭

One niche opinion I've formed from catching up on [some of] a decade-plus of Simpsons episodes is that they use Superintendent Chalmers too much. He shouldn't be in every school scene!

Very sad to hear about the passing of Michelle Trachtenberg, who was so good on one of my favorite shows, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER. Wrote a little about her work as Dawn. decider.com/2025/02/26/m...

As I learned this morning when I tried to buy concert pre-sale tickets that won't be live until tomorrow, it's actually Wednesday, not Thursday, but you still don't have THAT much time to listen to the SportsAlcohol.com OSCAR SPECIA before the awards!!! www.sportsalcohol.com/the-sportsal...

I dig that Rilo Kiley is releasing a simple 11-track hits record. But I'd do more like: 1 Always 2 Under the Blacklight 3 A Better Son/Daughter 4 Ripcord 5 The Execution of All Things 6 15 7 Accidntel Deth 8 Plane Crash in C 9 Spectacular Views 10 Portions for Foxes 11 Silver Lining 12 I Love L.A.

Always enjoy reading Alex's pix & predix but *especially* happy to see him recognize that in the supporting actress category, Monica Barbaro might be the hott-- I MEAN BEST

The (most welcome) REVENGE OF THE SITH reissue news does unfortunately remind me that Lucasfilm *could* do a fun 2027 thing where they do anniversary rereleases of the original (50th), ATTACK OF THE CLONES (25th), and LAST JEDI (10th), and instead will, at best, do a rerun of the '97 OT reissue.

Been watching some old SISKEL & EBERT: IF WE PICKED THE WINNERS. www.sportsalcohol.com/the-sportsal...
