It sure feels like that the shooter in Butler was a fan of Trump got buried quickly along with any lingering press curiosity about him at all. Like does anybody even remember his name without looking?

Geelong has proven time and again it should never be written off, and in 2025, the Cats once more look like they'll be pushing for the top four. In FOOTYOLOGY’s ‘Tale of the Tape’ series, Ronny Lerner assesses their prospects. #footyology footyology.com.au/tale-of-the-...

An early Soundgarden favourite of mine...played this album to death driving around south west WA in 1989. Ugly Truth youtu.be/dgavDkTcf8Y?... via @YouTube

Probably not. But you know the good thing about it? That you can at least now say with complete certainty that ANYBODY who still defends this man is dumb as dogs--- and themselves also an absolute %$#&.

The FOOTYOLOGY PODCAST is back in AFL season 2025 for @espnausnz.bsky.social! Join me and Rodney Eade as we preview ALL the games, with all the analysis you need, and without all the bluster you don't! Starts next Wednesday 26 February with our big season preview. Be there! #footyology

Essendon has missed finals three years in a row and might not feature in September in 2025, either, but at least the Bombers are on a clear, defined, long-term path. In FOOTYOLOGY's 'Tale of the Tape' series, Ronny Lerner assesses their prospects.

Hope those Aussie "commentators" (grifters) cheering this sort of evil on under the guise of 'free speech' are particularly proud of themselves right now. 🙄💩🤬

Some of the happiest days of my life, let alone my career, were spent working in The Age sports section of the 1980s We remain mates, and still catch up regularly for lunch and a few laughs. #theage

It makes so much sense that after decades of deregulating everything, unfettering markets, and absorbing reams of neoliberal indoctrination, that the richest person would be able to buy the US Presidency. You can't say it wasn't always coming.

As newspapers struggle to remain relevant, do you reckon their breathless reporting of every little personnel change on TV networks rather than actually covering some real news of their own helps much? Wouldn't have thought so. Used to be TV following newspapers' stories.🙄

I'm not into hip hop at all, and my son tells me I'm very uncool for saying this, but I really do like this track a lot. (And yeah, I know it's really old).

I’d actually forgotten this. Suspect others may have too. Can as many people as possible please share this so we never forget?

This is a great account, folks, if you don't already know about it. And THIS classic (voted in at No.9) is my favourite Chisel song hands down @musicbrownlow.bsky.social FWIW, my votes on this one were ... 3 - Houndog 2 - Wild Colonial Boy 1 - Bow River

Still, AFL footy on TV is what it's all about now, isn't it? I mean, take that pre-game stuff on Fox Footy's 'Friday Night Football'. Doesn't get much bigger than this! #heroicstance

Incredible amount of analysis about the TV commentary teams for AFL 2025. Sort of hoping we might get some about the actual teams too at some stage? 😂 #AFL

Come on AFL peeps, this platform is what Twitter used to be, more footy types should be embracing it. Please help spread the gospel.

Excellent read by Ryan Broderick in today’s “Garbage Day” newsletter. Here’s an excerpt. The US context just as valid here. Very disturbing.

Spot on from Bernard Keane. Just about every mainstream media outlet, not to mention both major political parties, use fear, hate & division to get clicks or win votes. The cynicism & paucity of moral leadership in this country really sucks.

After failing to make the finals last year, can Collingwood add to its 2023 premiership this season going all-in again with an ageing list? In FOOTYOLOGY's 'Tale of the Tape' series, Ronny Lerner assesses the Magpies' prospects. #footyology

Yeah, let's treat neo-Nazis as some trivial joke, says guy whose entire history as a columnist has been about promoting hate, bigotry and tacitly encouraging neo-Nazis.🙄

If you needed more proof Trump is owned by this madman, it’s his acquiescence in this scarcely believable scene, with Musk again using his son as fashion accessory. Why this hasn’t prompted not only revulsion but immediate civil uprising is hard to believe. Wake up America, you’ve been taken over.

Isn’t it interesting how the word “activist” is used as a put down against those who support marginalised people, but when billionaires like Gina Rinehart or Elon Musk are activists for more money and power, their behaviour is never talked about pejoratively as “activism”.

Oh sod off. As if you guys really give a toss. She's just another easy target for your sad, bigoted readership.

It’s like the entire US is in a state of shock or something. Every moment like this looks and feels like a bad comedy sketch. But nobody will step up and even attempt to stop it.

After a bitterly disappointing finish to 2024, the Blues are out to prove a point and show that their impressive 2023 campaign was no fluke. In FOOTYOLOGY's 'Tale of the Tape' series, Ronny Lerner assesses their prospects. #footyology

Re my earlier post and 'Yacht Rock' playlist, obviously Donald Fagen wasn't too keen on Steely Dan being slapped in the genre, but jeez they were good. Had never really listened to 'Aja' until a couple of years ago, but it's great, as slick as it gets...

JFC, here we go again! Where's his friggin' ukelele?

If you've never seen this, it's arguably the greatest three-quarter time speech of all time! Certainly the funniest! Shepherd's Bush Raiders v Regents Park, London 2002. And yes, Shepherd's Bush got up and won! That chick from the Olympics would have been f------ proud! 😂

I love my pump-up rock playlist for gym. But felt like a change today, so whipped up this 'Yacht Rock' classics one. Yes, I know there's obvious songs I don't have, but I reckon it's a pretty good representation of the genre, don't you think? #yachtrock

To be clear Elon Musk spent more money on Super Bowl adds praising himself for closing USAID than money he actually “saved” by closing USAID. People all over the world will die because of this fun game he is playing with our government because he is bored.

The City of Birmingham has given Black Sabbath's founders the status of Freemen of their home town. It's richly deserved, writes Warwick McFadyen in the 'Sound' section of Footyology. #footyology #blacksabbath

OK, really trying to be broad-minded here and not just an ol' white rock dude, but the 'show' aside, does rap really work in a big stadium purely on a aural level? #SuperBowl #kendrick

My top Super Bowl memory is when Musk tweeted “Go Eagles” in 2023 from the game and then deleted it after a similar tweet from Biden got more engagement. Then he flew to Twitter HQ and demanded his workers find out why his posts were doing poorly, starting a multi-day fact finding mission.

You're implying I'm assisting his cause? Well, I haven't linked to the article, it's just a photo showing Dutton pretending to bat. And I really don't think a poorly-executed backward defensive stroke dressed in shirt and tie with a 4yo keeping wicket is going to be a massive vote-winner, do you?

Is there a single mainstream media outlet now which doesn't barrack its heart out for the Liberal Party 24/7? (Yep, even the ABC seems to have jumped on). I'm no huge fan of the ALP these days, but the lack of remotely even-handed political coverage now is just an absolute joke.

Every day as some new horror emerges about the trashing of fundamental democractic functions in the US, you have to keep reminding yourself that not only did 77 million people vote for Trump, another 90 million eligible voters couldn't be bothered even ticking a box to prevent him wreaking havoc.

Says it all about the state of Australian media that literally every week this Liberal Party flunky is able to write essentially the same biased crap and pass it off as "political analysis" when it's out & out propaganda. And poorly written propaganda at that. Just garbage.
