I wonder: if Six Flags had originally built Kingda Ka in a more central location with better viewing angles (like TTD) rather than along the parking lot, would that have later nudged them to consider reuse of the structure instead (like TT2) due to making demolition more complex/costly?

Not sure what I expected, but I wasn't anticipating all the column seams to simultaneously pop apart when it lands. Glad there's a good video recording of this moment for posterity.

Good riddance. Even without the litany of issues it had, the basic premise never fit the tone and thesis of the Studio Tour well. Getting a major outdoor coaster and an improved finale to the Studio Tour were the top two items on my wish list for USH, so this is an awesome evolution for this park.

That frustration when you've had a long day and just want to go to your favorite noodle shop for a quick late night comfort dinner, but they botch the service so badly that now you can add losing a once-loved restaurant to your list of things wrong with the week.

Checking showtimes at the local theater and I'm already seeing some recurring themes among 2025 releases.

I'm curious to see what the sightlines of Stardust Racers will be like from within Isle of Berk. In certain photos it feels like the coasters be a very dominant backdrop to the land, but maybe on ground level those grandstands are serving a lot more strategic placement than I realize?

The most delightful news story I've read so far this year, not that it has almost any competition. amusementtoday.com/2025/02/stol...

Orlando tourism commercial touts itself as a place where “phones are forgotten”, and I’m like which Orlando is this

Harry Potter Studio Tours really going on a tear redeveloping some of the oldest remaining traditional amusement parks in Asia. (Such as it is; Jin Jiang had one of the first full-sized roller coasters in mainland China built all the way back in... 1985.) www.cnn.com/travel/china...

Not loving it. It's the kind of soft Hallmark card theme I'd expect of a Dollywood kid's area, but it encompasses a huge percentage of the park including 2/3 of its major thrill rides, now renamed like kids rides. The storm-name motif across all three was more clever and could have easily been kept.

Finally got around to ranking my 2024 movies. This year especially, I suspect there are a number of smaller films I haven't seen yet that might reorder things, but here's where things stand now.
