The houhis aren't an existential threat. They are an annoyance to global trade. They shot at a few ships. We collapsed entire residential buildings to kill one guy. All in the name of making sure Europe has access to cheap crap from Amazon. US didn't even do this for it's own economic benefit.

www.expressnews.com/news/border-.... Prediction: we will see travel advisory from Europe soon for both measels and ICE risk. Tourism at risk. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Ok guys. It's official. The reciprocal. Tariffs are more smoke and mirrors. Instead of actually levying tariffs, which he said he'd do, trump asked his advisers to look into it. It's mexico and Canada all over again

It's Friday. At about 4:30 eastern today, the Trump admin is going to do something really crazy. The goal is to drive you nuts over the weekend and consume the attention of the media. I don't have any advice on how to respond. I will just say that knowing this might calm your nerves

I suspect USAID is first because it's "foreign aid" and fewer Americans will object. But once the precedent is established, expect unilateral dismantling of domestic institutions too

@peterbakernyt.bsky.social I have another question on the installation of the junior brain trust overseeing the payments system in Treasury. My (limited) understanding of these government computer systems is that they are basically run off of mainframes.

The Democrats messaging on the US Treasury data grab is off base. Two messages: 1) a South African billionaire who gave an apparent Nazi salute has access to all your personal information.

@peterbakernyt.bsky.social I have a question. Is there a formal contract or MOU between the government and DOGE? One that spells out their duties, recordkeeping, and cybersecurity requirements. It seems that Elon is at least opening himself up to massive civil liability if he is firing employees.

I am hearing a lot about mass deportations, but I can't figure out how they started doing it in 4 days? I think it's more likely that the deportations you are hearing about now were started in the Biden administration. Trump is just using military planes now. I could be wrong

@kenwhite.bsky.social so, maybe this question is a little dark. And with the caveat that the Internet isnt real life. But what do you think of the idea that if the UHC shooter is caught alive, a jury will or will not convict him? I feel like the risk that there would be one holdout is non zero.

Is the talent bench in the GOP side really that shallow? The top picks for the cabinet are just people from TV?

Two under-reported aspects of the 2024 political landscape. The vitriol in digital ads that aren't shown frequently. It's flying under the radar. Ads shown in rural areas on connected TV are just not being seen in large cities, but they are absolutely, wildly racist.

In Springfield they're eating the dogs

81 million people firing a bag of Cheetos

Here's a picture of eating pets

Netanyahus speech is about as basic as pumpkin spice latter. Just the least inspiring, pro forma applause lines ever.

This immunity ruling might be the worst thing that could have happened to Trump. The election might stand as as a test of which candidate you want to give immunity from prosecution to. I can't imagine that's the guy recently convicted of a felony, credibly accused of raping E. Jean Carrol.

If we live in such a hellhole why are the ballparks full.

JFC watching Biden is so stressful.

There's a reason reporters go to diners to interview people: McDonalds and other corporate places, kick you out.

Trump's inability to meet this bond is a direct result of his stupid defense strategy. Because he argued that there was no fraud, he could not put up a credible forensic expert to knock down the AG's wildly damaging calculations.
