I'm not having Fraser Nelson playing dumb on the rise of racism on the right after years spent printing Murray, Liddle, Taki and Shriver. I literally had a DM row with him years ago where I said this would happen.

I strongly suspect that the approach to reading lessons that Ashley describes in this blog is significantly more effective and more engaging than the approaches currently used in the vast majority of English schools. Well worth a read.

One of the things that keeps me going back to Twitter is that I get fairly regular DMs on there asking me for advice about reading. Just to be clear: I am more than happy for people to DM on here for the same reason. Please repost this if you think this info might be useful to someone.

Are we going to have to have a headline about what every private school does. Because I could offer various on the theme: State school cuts back on extra-curriculum provision to cut costs Junior School absorbs cost of absent SEND provision. Congratulations to all #ECT on the completion for your first week. And if you woke up today at normal school time without an alarm, then congratulations again because…. You just got #bodyclocked! Now you really are a teacher 😁. 6.00am on the dot for me 🤣 #edusky

Spent a couple of hours yesterday evening helping with #rED2024 set up. It’s gonna be a big one. Exciting day ahead.

@teachertapp.bsky.social Can you please add an ‘All of the above’ option? 😫😆

***NEW Episode*** Allow me to be absolutely direct: Your biggest problem next year is going to be low level disruption. It’s worth having a plan for how you’ll manage it before school starts. @strickomaster.bsky.social and I discuss some strategies. #PGCE #ECT open.spotify.com/episode/0ZDu...

I share a lot of books…especially picturebooks. Here are 15 picturebooks I’m most excited about between now and Christmas. Brilliant authors, amazing illustrators and some wonderfully creative stories. #PictureBookPage

Love blogs like this! Super practical and focused on a high leverage aspect of teaching - the importance of addressing when the ‘abstract has not been made concrete’. Thank you for sharing, @jdurran.bsky.social

Yey @mralmonded.bsky.social & @morgsedu.bsky.social have arrived!

Wrote this post a few years ago: my thoughts on reviewing primary accountability system. Maybe now, with a new govt, these issues might get looked at. www.sigplus.co.uk/2020/05/prim...

Can we teach children to think critically? There’s lots of opinions given on the subject so I went in search of a systematic review. This one, a meta-analysis by Abrami et al (2015) looked interesting: www.researchgate.net/publication/...

New blogs coming soon, but in the meantime here is an old one I wrote about primary assessment reform. Likely to be a live topic over the next few years. #edusky #edublogshare rebeccaallen.co.uk/2021/12/30/t...
