WOW #SignalGate wapo.st/42dVyTk

Rubio and Hegseth have installed this twenty-something DOGE affiliate, Nate Cavanaugh, as acting president of the U.S. Institute of Peace, per filing. Before DOGE took control of USIP, the duly appointed president was George Moose, a career diplomat who first joined the foreign service in 1967.

NEW: Several top US officials were put on administrative leave after denying DOGE access to the federal payroll system that, among many other things, issues paychecks to Supreme Court justices. @timmarchman.bsky.social reports: www.wired.com/story/doge-a...

#SignalGate: Mobile numbers, email addresses, and passwords we found online – and why I think it’s actually concerning: What a week it’s been. I’m a relatively unknown German reporter who was actually on vacation, lying in bed when I got the idea to just take a look and see what I could find.

Thinking about Guccifer 2.0 and the phishing scam that caught Podesta for obvious reasons.

I've been begging @zeit.de Online editor @wegner.io to translate and open their stellar coverage of America's fall for Americans. Here is a fine example: A European Declaration of Independence from America. Highly recommended. Vielen Dank, Jochen, mein Freund. www.zeit.de/kultur/2025-...

I received a heartbreaking email today: A paper in a special issue I’m editing is being retracted because one of its authors is afraid of losing their job and their legal status in the U.S. if they publish a scientific study on evolution. Yes, on evolution, nature's engine of diversity.

This is so good: “A.I. wants workers who make decisions based on expertise without an institution that creates and certifies that expertise. Expertise without experts. That tech fantasy is running on fumes.”

Best sign at the #TeslaTakedown protest in Brooklyn.

This makes no sense—civilization would "disappear" if it didn't keep growing above 8 billion people? people would just give up having children? huh?—until you see what countries he has excluded from "every country." Then you understand what the apartheidist means by "civilization."

I’ll also say that if any of the tactics in this book work, you probably don’t have the story yet (or don’t understand the story you have) and should keep digging.

These online communities – referred as “Com networks” – see offenders collaborate or compete to cause harm across a broad spectrum of criminality - both on and offline - including cyber, fraud, extremism, serious violence, & child sexual abuse. www.nationalcrimeagency.gov.uk/news/sadisti...

I’ve only seen one page: a list of questions Swiatowski suggests communications pros put to reporters, including requests for information about sources. I wouldn’t answer them, but I might redouble my efforts to aggressively pursue a story having heard them. Do with that what you will.

Megyn Kelly recently interviewed “Courage is a Habit.” Here are a few quotes from their social media account: “It’s annoying when the blacks like you complain all day long” “Good parenting has always been about ‘exclusion’.” 1/

Mind-boggling… US embassies across the EU have sent out demands to their suppliers ordering them to comply with a Trump executive order banning corporate diversity, equity and inclusion programmes. @financialtimes.com www.ft.com/content/02ed...

Breaking: Top Trump officials’ private data and passwords have surfaced online, including Pete Hegseth, Mike Waltz, and Tulsi Gabbard. This data could potentially be used by America’s enemies to hack into the unsecured Signal chat where they discussed war plans.

👀

Der Spiegel reporters were able to find phone numbers, email addresses and even some passwords belonging to the top U.S. officials—including Tulsi Gabbard, Pete Hegseth, and Mike Waltz. Sen. Mark Warner joins to discuss.

US Officials Private data & passwords online? TRUE for every official, regardless of party. You too, if you're an American. BAD for so many reasons. Including national security. BECAUSE the US hasn't enacted serious privacy protections for citizens. 1/ www.spiegel.de/internationa...

Pete Hegseth and JD Vance — also in the chat — similarly left their Venmo’s exposed. www.wired.com/story/jd-van...
