Anger is useless unless you apply the energy productively. Rage is a great motivator. Use it effectively.

If you want to get through, you first must make sure that your e-mail isn't marked as external by filters. There are children in charge, so it's likely that just the basics are being covered.

I would like to introduce the script kiddies to some NIST security policies, which they may not be aware of: * Intrusion Detection Systems with Honey Pots * Log monitoring and protection * Audit and rollback of transactions * File Integrity monitoring * Malware protection, detection, and removal.

I, for one, would like to congratulate our next Postmaster General, Eric Trump, Esq. He will truly be an asset, once he learns to read.

The new Food Pyramid has been released.

@11218bell.bsky.social Now that FB had banned 82yo grandmas, her daily Sally Forth will be here. It's Monday, February 17, 2025.

Well, FB arbitrarily disabled my 82yo mom's account. That's that for me. I'm downloading my data and deleting that account. (And fuck zuck, in general.) My only "social" site (for now) will be here. Asynchronous communication is my preferred method. E-mail is best as it fits my haphazard schedule.

I'm always looking to make things easy to assemble -- from the start. Since these springs would be trouble to install, I instead continued the hole all the way through and hold the one end with a small set screw.

A batch of #GlidePoint devices soldered up and ready for programming. These get paired up with an @adafruit.com QT PY (SAMD21).

Some day I'll figure out how to "un creak" springs. I always end up with designs that (somewhat) work, but sound like an un-oiled screen door. Back to #OpenSCAD.

Work up early, read the news, wanted to throw a chair through the window, started soldering.

I used to enjoy purchasing electronics parts for my customers. Now it's tariff, tariff, tariff. Absolutely furious. How can I keep things affordable with these nitwits changing everything daily?

Sometimes you have to recreate the wheel. Or, in this case, the joystick. Building a better Slider. This has to be about the 20th iteration. Not an easy problem to solve.

Silence Is Compliance

Haphazard funding cuts are going to cause tons of unintended (and many intended) consequences. As a Professional Maker, this presses me even harder to design affordable devices and publish the designs as Open Source or Public Domain. We are going to see more folks "revert" back to DIY solutions.

From someone cleverer than I: President Trusk

We aren't going to have a Recession. We're going to have a Depression. A real one.

So, from intern to CTO in two years. What have I done wrong? I'm waiting for the UPDATE without a WHERE clause disaster.

I got the Y axis issue fixed yesterday. Before (top) and after (bottom). I may need to swap out the nozzle -- my transparent is looking more white these days.

"Only an idiot fights a war on two fronts. Only the heir to the throne of the Kingdom of Idiots would fight a war on twelve fronts."

Back to the drawing board on this little #GlidePoint sensor as mouse project. The GP gets held by a ring attachment. I need to remove the edge from the one enclosure (finger nail keeps snagging) and do some sort of ball and socket to allow better positioning. I'd love to lose the ribbon cable, too.

What a slipping Y axis looks like on a #Prusa. Time to re-tighten things. When they work, they work. When they don't, an exercise in wiring frustration.

After waking up with another of my notorious headaches, I have to remind myself: what are you going to build today? what problem are you going to work on?

Well, after 5400 print hours, the Y belt on the #Prusa was too worn to continue. Glad it was that and not the stepper. I'm fortunate enough to have a deep parts "drawer" so had a belt handy. I kinda wish they looped that belt (like X), so it could more evenly wear. "Around center" was almost gone.

I too often forget about older tech that will solve current problems. I was running +/-/Signal through a TRS cable ("headphone jack"). Problem is -- shorts when inserted/removed and weird issues if not seated. So, I went back to RJ11 -- AKA "phone cord" -- cheap, replaceable, lots of lengths. KISS!

Normalize pronouncing DOGE as DOUCHE.

Very bad news for a lot of folks I work with -- and the people they support. And for what?

February 8th in Central Texas, and it's 90 degrees F.

Got the "toe" caps for the JoyCon style stick re-modeled in #OpenSCAD and printed. I'm happier with the "throw" of these toppers and the model has been generally improved.

To be honest, I'm not enjoying the 2020s.

Bad overnight. Woke up the dry heaves then vomiting. Stress. Work? No. Home? No. *waves hands at country* Yes. Tearing things down is easy. Building is hard. Where's my aspirin?

I think 2025 will be the year of the foot. I've gotten a number of requests over time regarding foot operated controllers. Gamers who need to do LS/RS analog control. Musicians who have their hands full already. It's a balancing act between cost, strength, size, and who knows what else. :-)

This video on installing little magnets is too long for here, so here's a link. Some tips that I've learned over time. youtu.be/njlrdKBgh8w?...

I use #OpenSCAD for all my 3D Modeling work because my brain works better with words. (Find the tool that fits your mind, don't adjust to the tool -- it's a tool.) I use #BOSL because it makes OpenSCAD so much easier. github.com/revarbat

I need to spend some time going through this @makersmakingchange.bsky.social site. Their documentation is always outstanding. If you are into #AssistiveTechnology or looking to learn more about #Makers making #AT, take a look. makersmakingchange.github.io/OpenAT-Resou...

Now I remember why I have to keep the adapters so small on the bottom. These worked fine -- until I put them in the enclosure! Back to #OpenSCAD for me. I'll have to increase the overall height, but since this will be used in a prone position, that's less of a big deal. #JoyCon #XBOXAC #ToeControl
