The "free speechers" are now afraid of free speech.

JD Vance - If you believe any of the multiple federal courts that have ruled against you so far are exceeding their statutory or Constitutional authority, your recourse is to appeal. You don’t get to rage-quit the Republic just because you are losing. That’s tyranny.

USAID was investigating Starlink CFPB was the agency preventing dodgy financial maneuvers like X becoming a bank Musk is systematically (and illegally) going after the agencies that constraint his business interests

Without the CFPB, giant financial institutions — like banks, mortgage lenders, credit card companies, and debt collection companies — will have an easier time picking your pocket. It’s clear who Trump and Musk serve — and it’s not you.

Tax loopholes for the rich. A bloated military budget. Lucrative contracts and subsidies to private corporations. These are all huge sources of federal waste and fraud, but don't expect Elon Musk and DOGE to take aim at any of them.

We're in the midst of a constitutional crisis. The world's richest man is effectively orchestrating a coup. At the very least, Senate Dems should not be confirming any of Trump’s nominees for any agency while this power grab continues. Nothing should be "business as usual."

Murphy: "We need to act like a real opposition party in the middle of a constitutional and democracy crisis. That means we should not be moving forward nominees or legislation in the Senate. Ds should not be giving votes to nominee or legislation in the Senate until Rs get serious about this crisis"

Both Trump and Elon Musk have succumbed to the delusion that there is a broad popular constituency in favor of what they are doing. There isn't. They are pitching to the compulsively online lunatic fringe. They are not prepared for the blowback as soon as they touch a single Social Security check.

There are some elements of this administration from which the country will never recover.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio has returned from a trip to El Salvador where he secured an agreement from that country's president to accept deportees from the U.S. of any nationality — including American citizens — offering to hold them in the country's sprawling maximum-security facility…

NEW: I just moved to subpoena Elon Musk to appear before the Oversight Committee to answer for his unlawful takeover of agencies across the government. Republicans blocked my motion without allowing any debate. They will stop at nothing to cover up Elon Musk's lawlessness.

Hurricane Helene devastated western NC - we are still recovering, and will be for years to come. Because we knew it was coming, schools and many businesses were closed, leaving roads clear so rescuers could do their jobs. Imagine how many more lives would have been lost without prior warning.

Murphy: "The reality is this could get dystopian very quickly. If you were to start speaking ill of Elon Musk on social media, Musk might be able to stop or delay your tax refund, or your mom's Social Security benefit, in part because we have no window into what's happening at Treasury right now."

This Treasury letter does not contradict reporting by WIRED & TPM. It says "Treasury staff members working with Tom Krause" have read-only access, and "all operational processes" are conducted by Treasury staff. That doesn't deny DOGE has admin and altered code. home.treasury.gov/news/press-r...

Elon Musk used all the freedoms and opportunities of the USA, the country that defeated the Nazis, to become the wealthiest human being on earth. So how does he return the favor? He salutes the Nazis, then leads in the destruction of the Country made him. To me- that’s as traitorous as it gets.

More of this, please. Let the lawsuits flow. I love it.

Spot on from @chrismurphyct.bsky.social

Funny how those in right-wing media spun endless conspiracy webs about Biden being “compromised” over Hunter’s business deals, yet Elon Musk — swimming in foreign ties, gov't contracts, and so much more — gets a free pass. Did they all suddenly run out of red string?

"This is precisely how democratic breakdown occurs—not just through the violation of laws, but through the corruption of the very language and concepts we use to understand law."

Trump's acting CFPB director (Scott Bessent) stopped the agency's work, which includes: -Capping credit card rates and excessive fees -Penalizing banks for ripping off consumers -Preventing politically-motivated debanking It's a victory for Wall Street at your expense.

Funds that Congress approved for weapons packages to Ukraine during the Biden administration are nearly empty, with most weapons already in Ukraine.

News on Trump-Musk scandal at Treasury from Ron Wyden: The admin now claims Musk takeover merely expands previous "audit" under Biden. But Wyden tells me former Treasury officials have informed him this is highly implausible. "A cover-up," Wyden says. Lots more here newrepublic.com/article/1911...

Since all the transphobes are quiet about the possibility of the Department of Education getting eliminated, I guess it was never about protecting women’s sports after all, since the DOE is the department that enforces Title IX.

Republicans are going along with Elon Musk's unlawful power grab. They're okay with an unelected billionaire who has no congressional authority having his hands on the Treasury's payment system and your Social Security number. Remember this.

Gaza is this week’s bright shiny object. Pay attention to Trump’s effort to aggregate as much govt power as possible in the WH & convert the civil service into loyalists, while GOP members of Congress watches let it happening without exercising their constitutional power to check it.

To America’s 2.3 million federal employees: Don’t accept a buyout. Neither Musk nor even Trump has the legal authority to make such an offer. And even if they did, would you trust them to follow through on it? Sincerely, Robert Reich Former U.S.Secretary of Labor

"DOGE does not have power over established government agencies, and Musk has no role in government. It does not matter that he is an ally of the President. Musk is a private citizen taking control of established government offices. That is not efficiency; that is a coup."

This photo hits hard.

You know, if a small percentage of the US Electorate were just fine with a woman President, I'd be sitting here on a Saturday morning, enjoying my coffee, and not Doom Scrolling wondering what on earth is going on

again this is a full scale attack on constitutional government

Republicans want you to hit your kids instead of giving them health care

Any US Senator who votes for Tulsi Gabbard, RFK Jr. or Kash Patel are betraying their oath of office to serve their constituents and uphold the Constitution.

⚡️ Russian oligarch Kerimov held stake in Musk's SpaceX through trust despite sanctions, Bloomberg reports.

Camps. He’s describing a concentration camp.

It’s important to know that a lot of productive activity is happening in person and offline, too. Not all of it can be broadcast online, but we’ve had hundreds of people showing up to our trainings, mobilizations, and more. Keep going. Tyranny is eroded by a sea of small acts. Everything matters.

Did I say concentration camps? www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/...
