@dailybeanspod.bsky.social If you sell blankets to the navy your are a vendor, not an NGO! www.ngo.bham.ac.uk/Definingfurt....

@chrislhayes.bsky.social Guess the withpod staff got their attention stolen…they need to proofread the podcast blurb🤣

@maryltrump.bsky.social Two of Maryanne Trump’s children were born before she became a naturalized citizen in March 1942. Does that mean those children were not US citizens?

@maddow.msnbc.com Quinn Slabodian (BU) is good on links between silivalley tech bros and our current politics (anarcho-capitalism).

@muellershewrote.bsky.social If you’re ok saying garage for “car shelter” then why do you have a problem with porte cochere for “car gateway”? Both are French terms taken into English a long time ago. It’s for driving through to let out passengers, not a carport. Standard term in the hotel industry…

@scarramuci.bsky.social Teapot Dome was Warren Harding in the 20s, not the 1890s.

@jillwine-banks.bsky.social US founding documents were inspired by ideas of the Scottish enlightenment. www.jstor.org/stable/743992 I think we can safely use the Scottish form without embarrassment😀.

@jillwine-banks.bsky.social I’ve always understood the past tense of the verb to plead as having a technical legal form, and a general non-technical form. As: I pleaded with him to turn himself in; he did and pled guilty. The pled form is used in Scottish (but not English) law, by the way.
