The best computer security is quietly and thoughtfully built into every computer thing we build, and you don't even notice it is there. I love the outdoors, and the dark night sky. Plus lightning. Plus cooking with friends. Maybe Canada?

NEW: The Trump administration admitted in a court filing that ICE lied about having an arrest warrant when they detained our client Mahmoud Khalil in retaliation for his protected speech. This confirms what we already knew: The government is intent on punishing Mahmoud by any means necessary.

NEW COLUMN: It's absurd for President Trump and his team to act like they cannot easily free Kilmar Abrego Garcia from El Salvador's prisons. But what if we were to play along with this performance? What are Trump's options? My latest: www.politico.com/news/magazin...

This week you'll start seeing reporting that DOGE's special government employees (SGEs) have 130-day terms that expire shortly. This has no basis in fact. When those people *don't* leave their jobs, perhaps then the puzzled reporters will actually take 10 minutes to research their claims.

“Loyalty is the most important political virtue,” Jack Posobiec, a MAGA operative and podcaster, said. “In Dante’s Inferno, the lowest circle of Hell was reserved for those who were betrayers. Our job is to have the President’s back.”

Dr. Josephine Baker fought for milk testing in lower Manhattan over a century ago, where babies were 7 times more likely to die than WWI US soldiers in the trenches. Milk was often adulterated with chalk and germ-y water. Today the FDA stopped testing milk due to lack of staff. Shame on you, Trump.

Imagine the shitshow we'd be in right now if ICANN hadn't been spun off from the US government

it's important this go as viral as the original story for morale purposes if nothing else. despite the image they project these people are NOT unaccountable. consequences CAN be forced. focused anger and outrage MATTERS.

1. Something that many people may have missed but that was an extremely revealing & dog whistling statement #PierrePoilievre made towards the end of #Debate2025. It was a parroting of Pete Hegseth. Poilievre is so mired in the MAGAsphere that he just can’t help but parrot MAGA ideology. #MapleMAGA

Exclusive: Immigrants falsely labeled dead by the Social Security Administration are showing up at field offices with documents proving they are alive, leading staff to reinstate nearly three dozen people over the past week, according to records obtained by The Post.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R): "We are all afraid…I am oftentimes very anxious myself about using my voice because retaliation is real."

I’m about to board my flight to El Salvador, where I hope to meet with senior government officials to discuss the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia. I also hope to see Kilmar and check on his condition — and remind him that we won’t stop fighting until he’s home.

Best 2 grafs I’ve read in a while. M. Gessen shows how universities can beat Trump & his thugs—not only by refusing his evil & illegal attacks, but by (re)focusing their missions & reversing their slides into vapid values that left them ill-prepared for this moment www.nytimes.com/2025/04/14/o...

New from me: an essay on the House UnAmerican Activities Committee, and its remarkable 30 year history of witch hunts & blacklists. It chronicles the progression of how industries & academia went from capitulation to defiance,& what we can take from that today www.lawfaremedia.org/article/proc...

Oh wow great @haleaziz.bsky.social piece on a 2018 case in which Trump’s ICE screwed up and erroneously deported a guy. AND THEY BROUGHT HIM BACK because why wouldn’t they? We’re in a much darker place now. Free link: www.nytimes.com/2025/04/15/u...

The student paper at the college at which I teach reports a "tsunami of takedown requests" from international students terrified of being targeted for innocuous, legitimate op-eds & opinions.. Many ask in person--leave no trace in writing. Reminds me of my father's account of studying in the USSR.

It now should be routine that any judge issues a TRO on an immigration issue.

One of hundreds of people abducted by ICE and sold to slavery in El Salvador was a 19 year old with no criminal record in the US or Venezuela and no tattoos of any kind. An ICE kidnapper who grabbed him outside his house said, "He's not the one." The other said, "Take him anyway." So they did.

This Tufts student was grabbed off the street, cuffed and taken out of state solely because she co-wrote a completely respectful oped in the student paper. And Rubio’s State Dept now admits they have nothing more damning than that. Gift link wapo.st/4j8d5Uh

Called my congressman who voted for the SAVE act. Me: What documents will I need to vote if this passes? Staffer: a DL and birth certificate. Me: The documents don’t match Staffer: Then a marriage certificate. Me: Will my husband need the marriage certificate too? Staffer: No Me: See the problem?

🚨🚨 This is absolutely excellent work by @anneapplebaum.bsky.social on the US constitution and the dangers of leaving arbitrary power in the hands of Donald Trump.
