I don't think this has been peer reviewed yet, but the last couple of sentences of the abstract are a real humdinger.

Respamming this at a time when Europe is actually awake. Ah timezones. #iwqc25 #quantum #compilers

We have an opening for a research scientist in the quantum algorithms team at Quantinuum. This is permanent in London or Cambridge, UK. Details: jobs.eu.lever.co/quantinuum/2...

Join Quantinuum's hardware effort as an AMO theory lead. This team does excellent work. jobs.eu.lever.co/quantinuum/0...

Do you like quantum compilers? Maybe you should send something to the Quantum Compilers workshop! It's in Helsinki 6-7 September. Submissions are 3--5 pages, deadline 13 July. #quantum #compilers #quantumcomputing #iwqc25 #finlandfinlandfinland quantum-compilers.github.io/iwqc25/

It's nothing to do with me but you are looking for a new university in a new country here's something... #academia #jobs #Japan #tohoku www.asahi.com/ajw/articles...

Job ad 🧵 1/2 Quantinuum are looking for QEC person to join our compiler team. Ideally you know lots about QEC and a bit about compilers but the other way could work too. Full-time, permanent, based in Cambridge in England. #jobad #quantum #quantumcomputing #qec jobs.eu.lever.co/quantinuum/d...

Just wow.

Finally got off my arse and bought tickets to go to the Workshop on Quantum Software in Seoul. Looking forward to seeing some old friends and hopefully making some new ones. Never been to Korea before! Anyone here going? #wqs #pldi #quantum pldi25.sigplan.org/home/wqs-202...

The brain drain will be when scientists are forced into other careers/jobs so that they can keep paying the bills. They will never return. There aren't enough science jobs in other countries to absorb even a fraction of those laid off.

I think a lot about how Aaron Swartz committed suicide while facing a probably long jail sentence for download some of JSTOR, but no one at Meta is going to face any repercussions for using all of Libgen to train its AI.

#unitaryhack 2025 is live! Contribute to open-source quantum projects, and get paid for it. I'm happy to say I'm participating as a maintainer this year with both hobby (quizx) and work projects (HUGR, Guppy). Check the projects page for the full list of issue bounties: unitaryhack.dev/bounties/

This is a very strong reason we, in quantum information, should try to submit most / if not all of our manuscripts to Quantum Journal. At least the community has some say over the process and authors are in charge of formatting their own manuscripts. Paid journals cannot be trusted.

Some pretty sweet #quantinuum projects in there too. #quantum #opensource #foss

Kilauea Volcano on Hawaii’s Big Island had a massive eruption yesterday

I'm often asked if I'll redo the 2019 quantum factoring estimate. Denser storage by yokes, smaller magic factories by cultivation, slimmer approx arithmetic by Chevignard et al… surely the cost is lower now? Yes, it's lower now. security.googleblog.com/2025/05/trac... arxiv.org/abs/2505.15917

Unitary Hack! Quantinuum has 4 issues up in this year's Unitary Hack. If you'd like to get into some cool (actually used) open source quantum software projects take a look at unitaryhack.dev/projects/gup... unitaryhack.dev/projects/hugr/ #quantinuum #quantum #opensource #unitaryhack

Some photos from the recent RIKEN workshop on HPC-Quantum in Osaka. Featuring Enrico Rinaldi, Mike Foss-Feig, @fridaysimon.bsky.social, Keisuke Fujii, and Nathan Lysne. @johnchildren.bsky.social and I also gave a talk, as did quite a few others. #quantinuum #riken #quantumcomputing

What's this? Some very nice work by my colleagues. #quantinuum #quantumcomputing #ftqc #quantum arxiv.org/abs/2505.09133

In 2020, we set an ambitious goal: increasing our #Quantum Volume by 10x every year for 5 years. Now, in 2025, we’re proud to say that we’ve accomplished that mission ahead of schedule. Our System Model H2 has achieved a world-record QV of 2²³ = 8,388,608.

I have a new paper out: "Quantum Circuit Lower Bounds in the Magic Hierarchy".🔮🪜 arxiv.org/abs/2504.19966 a thread:

Want to use one of the fastest quantum simulators but hate writing python or C++? I've just open sourced a project with high level Rust bindings for Qulacs. github.com/quantinuum-d... Still reasonably unstable but hopefully minimally usable now!
