Conventional wisdom among the DC/NY press corps is that Trump is strong on immigration enforcement. But that isn't reflected in polling. People hate it. So tell me: Who's in the bubble? Bluesky users or mainstream media editorial writers?

Robert F Kennedy Jr is not a vaccine skeptic. Reporters and editors who’ve decided it’s somehow more fair to call him one instead of the anti-vaccine activist and lawyer he is should stop mischaracterizing him so… in the pursuit of accuracy.

Yikes: "Around 315 Guard personnel were deployed to assist DEA in executing a federal search warrant"—a deployment that "appears to be unauthorized" even under Trump's memorandum federalizing National Guard units.

an absolute outrage

fwiw what Houston police did here is what it actually means not to be a sanctuary city

Underrated in politics: 1. Saying stuff you actually believe whether or not it is the stuff that polls best 2. Not counting on billionaires to buy you a victory with TV ads 3. Spending time campaigning

The easiest way to explain ranked choice voting is that it's a sandwich order, not a tier list. If I said your choices are turkey, ham, or dogshit, you wouldn't be like "ok my third choice is dogshit", you'd simply omit the shit sandwich.

A good question to ask is “when is the last time Van Jones had a job that wasn’t ’say stuff on the tv’?”

Democrats are racking their brains trying to find the "Joe Rogan of the left" while doing everything they can to defeat people like Zohran Mamdani and AOC, who actually possess the skills they're so desperately looking for.

If you’re an American should watch the Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown ep on Iran. A deeply humanizing look at a country full of people just like you and me. I watched it after Anthony died and it moved in ways that are hard to relay. I also immediately ran out to try kabob koobideh and tahdig.

illegal war started by a man constitutionally ineligible to be president

"i asked chatgpt" yeah well i went to the doctor, i went to the mountains, i looked to the children, i drank from the fountains there's more than one answer to these questions pointing me in a crooked line and the less I seek my source for some definitive closer I am to fine

nonzero chance that neither the World Cup nor the 2028 Summer Olympics take place in the United States the way things are going

wow and just when he’s scheduled to release his health care plan too crazy timing

New research from MIT found that those who used ChatGPT can’t remember any of the content of their essays. Key takeaway: the product doesn’t suffer, but the process does. And when it comes to essays, the process *is* how they learn. arxiv.org/pdf/2506.088...

28-year-old Pedro Luis Salazar-Cuervo, who has no known criminal record, was accused by Texas police of being in a Venezuelan gang because they found a photo of him posing with another man with tattoos, his lawyers say. From ProPublica partner @texastribune.org:

Pure, unadulterated evil.

Some ask “how is @thebarbedwire.bsky.social different from [Dem ‘owned media’ project]?” It’s stories like this -> We’re populist & progressive. We take on power & we want justice. But our work isn’t a sub for partisan politics. It’s real journalism. Read Felita Bailey’s story to see for yourself.

the lesson of this isn't that tucker carlson is actually good but that you should ask these people basic factual questions instead of bullshit about politics

BREAKING: Armed man arrested at Nashville's 'No Kings' protest had long fascination with Nazis, mass murder www.newschannel5.com/news/newscha...

Around 10,000 people gathered in Dallas Saturday to protest the Trump administration. Grievances were aired as vendors sold out of bacon-wrapped “freedom dogs” and “Smash the Oligarchy” hats.

The Dallas Express, which sued me (and lost) for calling it right wing propaganda, published an article suggesting in the form of a question that the assassination of Democratic elected officials in Minnesota could be "Democrats kill[ing] their own so they could turn around and blame Republicans?"

Genie: ok what do you want for your birthday Trump: a military parade, oh, and also millions of people on the street chanting my name Genie: okie dokie

The Signal chat leak didn’t get Hegseth fired but I genuinely think this might.

Calling germ theory “widely accepted” and not, just, fact is cowardly malpractice.

The violence reported is that two people drove their cars into protesters.

The miasma theory is not "outdated," it's fucking nonsense. It thought people got chlamydia from rotten air. The "germ theory" isn't "widely accepted," it's proven scientific fact, and it's the only thing that allowed humanity to advance and cure diseases. Otherwise, great headline.

remembering headlines from last year

Ahead of the No Kings protest in Dallas this afternoon, the CEO of the right wing Dallas Express posted this image that includes a long rifle and a pistol, saying he will be "going in hot" to the "riot."

the "experts" are: —two guys from something called the Network Contagion Research Institute which only punches left and is funded by an Israeli surveillance entrepreneur —a grad student who disagrees with the premise of the article —a guy from CSIS, which has zero expertise in domestic policy

The Texas National Guard is pulling 2,500 troops from Greg Abbot’s Operation Lone Star to respond to anti-Trump protests. Internal memos show they're scrambling to find more troops. www.statesman.com/story/news/p...

The first known detention by the US Marines in their recent Los Angeles deployment is of... a US Army veteran on his way to an office at the Department of Veteran Affairs building. www.reuters.com/world/us/us-...

Just once I want to see a police chief fired over something like this

beware that this does not appear on any Seattle Reign official platform and appears to be a hoax.

[writes a humanizing profile of a weird genocidal freak with strange and dangerous opinions] Uh, please be nice, guys.

I think it's good when people change their minds. I think that we should encourage those who do to speak out about that. Also, I hope someone who knows this person can help them to connect the dots to other horrible things being wrought by Trump.

WELP bsky.app/profile/just...

is it more likely there's been a secret moon base or the guy Trump appointed as Army Secretary doesn't know what he's talking about, I'll let you guess which side of that I fall on

He's not "Trump's top general"; he works for us and swore an oath to the Constitution

He was not “escorted out by security.” He was shoved out the door by three goons and handcuffed. The fucking Times is going to soft-pedal the violence until the end of fucking time.

An enraging thing to do is to go back and read the credulous, straight reporting on the Oathkeepers and III%ers and the fucking Tea Party as though anybody on the political right was every really opposed to “tyranny” and not just a multiracial pluralistic democracy. The tyrants are here now.

Agree on both points. 1) States control most criminal prosecutions. Calif state charges for physical assault OF A US SENATOR in state's biggest city. 2) Dems in US Senate need to stand up on this one. This didn't happen even in days Faubus/Wallace/Maddox/Bull Conner resisted fed authority in 60s

Schumer stopped the Senate to announce that this happened, in the middle of debate on a bill where Democrats were collaborating with Republicans on crypto legislation. How you can compartmentalize these two things is beyond me.

Also when Trump, Abbott, etc do something terrible and a Democrat says “why are we doing xyz?” WE aren’t doing the bad shit if you’re in the minority party and you oppose the policy. THEY are doing it. Stop owning your opponents’ bad deeds!!!

It’s completely insane that US troops are illegally deployed to suppress domestic opposition and it’s not uniformly condemned by the press and political elite.
