A government on steroids shooting themselves in the foot. AID served many purposes. Clearly diplomacy is not a concern for this government. Neither is livelihood/human life. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Do not despair. This is not the time to retreat or become complacent or terrified. We will get through this. We will support one another achieving a more justice-oriented world. Solidarity, care, collectivity is how to move forward. The world is what we make it.

A damning new report. www.nao.org.uk/reports/tack... and www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

With this article in mind, our latest podcast with @berglundoscar.bsky.social feels especially relevant. In it, we examine the criminalisation of environmental and climate protesters in recent years. Give it a listen 👇 www.landclimate.org/is-the-clamp...

A hard hitting and powerful prison diary by a peaceful protester, a woman who poses no danger to the public but yet was incarcerated.

#USA: Trump’s new executive orders on #migration are a devastating step backward. Seeking safety is not a crime. We are once again calling for the development of safe and humane migration policies in line with domestic and international legal obligations. tinyurl.com/4cw63fr8

The video evidence is very clear, the protesters did nothing wrong. Solidarity with Ben and PSC! “We will not stop protesting and campaigning until every brick in the wall of apartheid that imprisons and oppresses the Palestinian people is torn down (…) Onwards together.”

Happy birthday #GaieDelap! Thinking of you and hoping this cruel non-sense will be over soon so you can be released. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

📢Anonymous #powerfulperpetrators survey for those who have experienced or witnessed #sexualmisconduct and abuse by professionals. We are looking to interview regulators, lawyers & others working on misconduct, disciplinary cases & professional standards: powerfulperpetrators.org/get-involved/

“A lead organization monitoring for food crises around the world withdrew a new report this week warning of imminent famine in north Gaza under what it called Israel’s “near-total blockade,” after the U.S. asked for its retraction” The US govt is sick.

A Conversation piece about our recent report @crossdale.bsky.social @roxana-pessoa.bsky.social @uob-policystudies.bsky.social theconversation.com/repression-o...

A twisted ventriloquist “criminal justice” system operates to enable genocide when protesters stand against it! “21 facing Christmas in jail… alleged to have taken part in pro-Palestinian direct action campaigns, including attempting to disrupt the supply of weapons to Israel” from UK factories.

As Gaie's MP I tried everything I could to challenge this decision to send her back to prison - including writing to the prisons minister Lord Timpson and the probation service. But they would not budge a millimetre. 🧵... www.channel4.com/news/77-year...

On this International Migrants Day, we dream of a world where everyone has the right to remain where they want to be – not because they are “deserving”, not because they are made “vulnerable”, not because they are “exceptional”, but because they love, they live and they are human.

As well as cruel, disproportionate and a waste of public money, imprisoning and failing to attend to health needs, shows a “systemic culture of disbelief, dismissal and inaction” which allows for prisoners’ ill health to end in serious harm and death!

Happy to have worked on this with @berglundoscar.bsky.social @roxana-pessoa.bsky.social Tie Franco Britto and Christina Pantazis. UK leads on arrests, but bigger story is the global elite consensus on repressing activism to avoid real action on climate change. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Our research covered in the Guardian www.theguardian.com/environment/...

We have a report out today on Criminalisation & Repression of Climate & Environmental Protest 1/10 @uob-policystudies.bsky.social

Research shows Britain is leading the world in the criminalisation and repression of climate activism www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Cruel repression of 77 year-old peaceful and non-violent climate protester

Some books help us to see and make sense of our path. This one also gave me strength to survive the path. Thanks to Sara Ahmed, and to my colleagues who gave me the copy that kept me company in long cross country journeys this year!

This will (hopefully) never cease to be staggering to everyone else in the world.

At our Feminist Cities CoLab Workshop in Rio we're hosting Sarah Ihmoud at IESP. Please share with anyone who might be interested in attending.

New writing! I've been shuffling between atrocity criminology and police studies with @roxana-pessoa.bsky.social, exploring police as atrocity perpetrators. The resulting draft chapter is now available on @ssrn.bsky.social: Police and Atrocity Crimes papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.... (1/4)

Powerful new report from Amnesty International finds Israel has perpetrated 3 acts against Palestinians in Gaza which are prohibited under genocide convention. A full ban on UK arms sales is essential to prevent further complicity @amnestyuk.bsky.social www.theguardian.com/world/2024/d...

I feel moved and inspired by wonderful researchers and students who are trying to change the world. I’m happy to be learning with them and for being able to play a positive part in their lives.

“tell the women and feminists that huge numbers of mothers lost their children and huge numbers of children will complete their lives without their mothers. Keep posting and posting and posting about us”

It's not just that Bob Lambert committed a catalogue of outrages. It's that he was then seen as exemplary by later #spycops. One said Lambert's was regarded as 'hands down the best tour of duty ever'. He was put in charge of the unit & made a new generation of abusers in his image. Then given an MBE

Looking forward to our exciting key note event with Sarah Ihmoud, hosted by the Feminist Cities Colab, in person in Rio de Janeiro 16th December!

“Sharp increase in voluntary returns of Brazilians. As the largest Latin American community in the UK,Brazilians face significant barriers to accessing legal advice & are at risk of having their rights denied due to misinformation & harsh eligibility requirements” www.theguardian.com/world/2024/d...

Someone arrested at a recent Kurdish solidarity protest has been given bail conditions not to "associate with Kurdish people". He's Kurdish. The Metropolitan Police remains a racist endeavour.

#JobAlert: we’re hiring! The Foundation is seeking two new Sociological Review magazine editors to build on the excellent work of our outgoing editors @asiyaislam.bsky.social and @idleethnographer.bsky.social Don’t delay! 19 December is the deadline to apply. buff.ly/3B99lBe

“She has to battle to have time to write and read, time for herself. […] we can see from the point of view of the mother, who is also a writer, a poet and a philosopher, how you can be pulled away from the writing table […] the less #time you have, the more time matters” (Sara Ahmed 2024, pp. 188-9)

“The total wealth of Trump’s top team is $340 billion — more than the GDP of 169 countries.” It’s wild that they have fooled people making under $30k a year into thinking they care about them.

Spycops Inquiry: #spycops officer Bob Lambert planned & carried out incendiary device attacks on Debenhams department stores as campaign against them selling fur, the public inquiry has heard. Lambert himself will give evidence to the inquiry next week. www.romfordrecorder.co.uk/news/2474975...

This is very worrying news and my thoughts are with staff immediately impacted. The seafront is one of our biggest and most beautiful assets and it's important constructive, positive conversations happen about next steps. I've written to @brighton-hove.gov.uk and others to discuss.

Dave Smith was blacklisted & spied on for raising health & safety concerns. “If someone said #spycops were spying on my union meetings I would've told them to shut up. It sounds like a conspiracy theory. But there were at least three of them.” www.barkinganddagenhampost.co.uk/news/2474991...
