Getting Started

Hi everyone! We are getting ready for our 2025 lecture series most of which will be held at the Royal Society lecture theatre in Thorndon. While grateful for the parent body support, we'd also like to explore other venues in Wellington due to the high number of potential speakers.

I suspect this is a long shot so I'm not sure if there will be many responses to this question, but are there any Aotearoa-based social scientists researching olfactory racism? Failing that, any sensory ethnographers, or even health or geography researchers, focusing on colonial smellscapes?

Angela Krenn - Deputy Chief Architect Liquid Hydrogen @ NASA SamsungA55_02_12_2024 A very interesting talk from Angela on how rockets are filled, I guess with all the focus on the rockets one doesn’t think about all the supporting infrastructure,

Sadly our last lecture of the year and it was a great one, detailing the history of liquid hydrogen in space travel with an equally exciting future. It takes 5 years to train to be a NASA cryogenic fuels specialist. Much of the infrastructure remains in place since the '60s. LH2 and LO2 don't mix!

We appreciate the likes! Note our lectures are free and are often enlightening and fun. Please do pass along the details to anyone you might know in the Wellington region who may have interest.
