Do I ever regret that I moved to the UK back when some other opportunities meant moving to the US? Nope, no I don't. Not even for a second.

⚡️US threatens to shut off Starlink if Ukraine won't sign minerals deal, sources tell Reuters. The U.S. first raised the prospect of shutting off Starlink after Zelensky rejected the deal presented on Feb. 12. Starlink terminals are critical in securing Ukraine's battlefield communications.

This all feels surreal. Like, surely the US will snap out of it, right? They won't be going down this trajectory for *years* to come, right?!

Wow, SAS, you definitely win in "most useless banner ever". Looks like a lot of people ran into this one with no clear resolution. And yes, it's not just a banner - they actually prevent you from seeing flights if they think you're a bot 🤦‍♂️

Rust definitely made me much better at writing C++. And at screaming at C++ for hiding all those lifetimes behind mental gymnastics.

Full-on "can't stop, won't stop licking Putin's arse" mode. www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2...

I'm half-convinced large language models were invented just so that something could translate C++ template errors into human language.

I think I am actually making some progress again... But it's a lot of math and reading papers and learning new things. Which makes it fun but slow-going.

Why do all snapshot testing tools use their own format, their own convention for old/new files, their own diff tools and so on? Is there anything based on Git instead? I already have convenient diff tools for it, ability to compare generated file vs committed one, ability to "accept" snapshots etc.

...and it's out! (oddly, they didn't include it in the changelog, even though IMO it's a very important fix) blog.rust-lang.org/2025/02/20/R...

I avoided it for so long because of inherent distrust (?) in vendor-provided apps, but Intel VTune might be the best profiler I used yet. So many details I didn't even know I need or could get from a profiler.

Sgtm, can we deploy this over the UK?

> "Well, you've been there for three years," Trump told reporters at his Mar-a-Lago resort. "You should have never started it." Ok, so I want to comment on both parts of this statement: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

The best dark sky in the world - the Atacama Desert in Chile, which hosts many @eso.org telescopes - is under threat from an industrial project. 🔭 Astronomers can sign a petition in favour of moving the planned industrial project: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...

Typical Rust. Sometimes all those moves do add up.
