Embroidered map of Palestine, received from friends in Gaza. It’s an honor to hang this on my wall and inscribe it onto my heart.

Thrilled to be reading (and reviewing) the extraordinary memoir of life in Gaza before 2023. Pre-order it now! (and thanks to @orbooks.bsky.social for bringing it to my attention)

Genocide scholar Taner Akcam on Gaza. “For those of us working on the Armenian Genocide, the discourse around Gaza feels like déjà vu. There is not a single argument offered today by Israel & its defenders that was not already deployed by the Ottoman-Turkish state more than a century ago.”

"In an earlier post, she wrote: "As for the inevitable death, if I die, I want a loud death, I don't want me in a breaking news story, nor in a number with a group, I want a death that is heard by the world, a trace that lasts forever, and immortal images that neither time nor place can bury."

Most media outlets don’t show the maps that the IDF puts out daily to terrorise the people of Gaza. If you add them all up over 18 months you’ll see that the Israelis have constantly forced civilians to be on the move - what’s more, they regularly bomb the places they tell people to flee to.

I’m again fucking begging anglo media to stop using „Caucasian” to mean „white” ESPECIALLY in any context involving Russia where oppression of actual Caucasians, as in people from ethnic groups inhabiting the Caucasus, is a real ongoing issue.

When we learn about the Holocaust, what is most terrifying and disturbing about it is the dehumanization, the total domination and the exercise of arbitrary violence. We feel the terror in our bones. And we are now seeing it play out in Palestine every single day.

Last night I published this. My friend's fate is still unknown. Rafah is occupied and under attack. Where is the outrage? This invasion is no less lethal than last May, when there was nonstop media coverage, at least in some places. All eyes on Rafah! rgould.substack.com/p/mahmoud-kh...

Drop Site contributor Rhana Natour breaks down Israel’s use of AI in its war on Gaza, and explores the future of AI-driven warfare. Part 1:

Jewish students at Columbia have chained themselves to a gate (already locked) to protest ICE detentions of student protestors. They accuse members of our board of trustees of providing information about students to ICE and are demanding accountability.

“Students & remote workers face daily struggles—power outages, broken internet lines, & a lack of safe spaces—making education & work nearly impossible.” This is only escalating. I hope academics chip in & share to sustain this free service for students. chuffed.org/project/spar...

A precise, powerful, and principled critique. "The most urgent need today, as the Columbia case shows, is to create a new social contract on boards of trustees, who have become too craven to be watchdogs and too self-interested to be trusted. This change will require hard community-based activism."

Steven Salaita was the first professor whose tenure was not denied, but revoked. Rasmea Odeh had her citizenship revoked — not her green card, her citizenship. The Holy Land Foundation were subject to trials w secret evidence against them, a violation of the 6th Amendment. All of them, Palestinians.
