Sorry we’re not riding at dawn. We’re having coffee and catastrophizing the day at dawn. Then we’re doing Wordle. Then we’re doing 35 minutes of doomscrolling, then we’re taking the longest hottest shower, then we’re sitting on the edge of the bed staring at nothing for a while, THEN maybe we ride.

You get introduced to some ppl so young & thru the lens of history. To you, they are a legend, an idea, a symbol of excellence, a commitment to Blackness and its humanity. And when they die, you are in profound disbelief. Both surprisingly and predictably, I forgot she was human.

When you're writing about the work of an author you follow on social media, it feels weird. The blend of the self-projection you created while reading their work versus their online self can be jarring.

I feel this in my SOUL.

Students should study the humanities not because it makes them better workers but because it rips you open and breaks your brain and changes everything you thought you knew. I *promise* you this. I *promise* it has this ability, no matter how smart you think you are. I have seen it countless times.

I interviewed Dionne Brand for @thenation.com. Read for a discussion of the English novel, an alternative tradition, and more www.thenation.com/article/cult...

Disgusting.

I'm learning that decentering "perfect writing" is a way to thwart AI usage. What makes writing human? What do we lose without freewriting?

I'm going incorporate collaborative annotations next semester to center on deep reading and comprehension. "The beautiful and difficult struggle for meaning."

"First, it appears that free speech is policed differentially based upon the identity of the speaker and whether they are supporting or challenging power." - Victor Ray, "Weaponizing Free Speech" www.insidehighered.com/advice/2017/...

"It is time to stop assuming good faith in the free speech debate. The right has weaponized free speech, framing campus debates in a way that resonates with liberals to destroy the very things liberals purport to care about."

Woke this morning thinking about Charles Mills’s notion of the “epistemology of ignorance,” the collective agreement, on the part of some, to see the world wrongly and through distorted, delusional lenses.

The worst kept secret in education? students are using AI to write their papers 🤐 Time to give them a taste of their own medicine 💊 #edusky #aiedu #maktok #genai

The negative effects of an education system built to promote assimilation:

One day - soon - Western societies are going to deeply regret combining reading and writing into single classes. Big mistake.

You guysssss!!! The Flesh of the Matter in honor of Hortense Spillers is here!!! 😍😍😍😍😍

Why can't I be one of those people that wakes up ready to seize the day?
