It should be obvious, then, why hallucination was a useful term for the AI establishment: it naturalizes AI’s untruths and by extension humanizes AI. Except AI is neither human nor natural. Further evidence for my hypothesis that we don’t really need to worry about AI because everything internet gets worse instead of better. See, for instance, spellcheck, Google search, Twitter algorithm…need I go on? Except Spotify algorithm which is still scary accurate
