People say to me all the time that I'm pessimistic about what's going on in my country, the United States with regard to the Trump administration and why I know the Republic is over. It's dead. We just don't want to admit it and process the grief of it. So let me lay some things out.

Lee Atwater had a pungent and famous quote about how once conservatives could no longer use the n-word they used things like “states’ rights” to invoke the same spirit. I don’t think it’s an exaggeration any more — if it ever was — to say they use DEI as the n-word.
