WHY?

Good point, @lauriewired.bsky.social, about the shift in the meaning of "hacker" in late 80s, from good to bad. Like insisting the sole meaning of "realtor" is “sleazeball, scam artist, swindler.” :) www.rudyrucker.com/nestedscroll...

Starting a new painting inspired by Dali's. "The persistence of memory". Version 1 out of who knows how many."Ain't no need to hide, ain't no use to run, Cuz I've got you in the sights of my looove gun."

Looking out the window admiring the ambient gnarl. The details of natural processes are impossible to predict. Breezes, rocking leaves, flowing water, your bod, your mind—all are chaotic. Chaos isn’t rare. It’s not a disease. It’s the norm. It’s health. And every second of your life is different.

There's always *something* to snap. Photogragh #1,734 of my foot.

Pi Day: 3 / 1 4 March 14th Pi Seond: 3 / 1 4 / 1 5:9:2 6 March 14th, 26 seconds after 3:09 pm! If you're on the west coast, there's still time, brothers and sisters. Stay round!

Today is Pi Day and the anniversary of the birth of Albert Einstein& the death of Karl Marx. Pi Day includes competitions to see who can remember Pi to the highest number of digits. March 14 was chosen because, in the US, the date can be written as 3.14 ... the first three numbers of Pi itself.

Did you ever see my early book of poems? *Light Fuse and Get Away*, Carp Press 1983. www.rudyrucker.com/blog/2022/02...

Wow! Total eclipse of the moon tonight at 11:30 in California. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/13/s...

Isabel's "Time Ecosystem." A long blog post by rudy, with about 30 photos and primo jive. Spent all day playing with it while it POURED raih outside. www.rudyrucker.com/blog/2025/03...

Great YouTube video of daughter Isabel and me discussing "The Time Ecosystem," meaning there are many levels and types of time in our lives...and they fit together with the good old fourth dimension. Remarks on writing as well. Filmed by Barb Ash. youtu.be/hovjsYciuHY

My father and I had a great time philosophizing about Time and the 4th Dimension at Larry Spring Museum. Rudy Rucker is a cyberpunk writer and expert on 4th dimension and infinity. I also explained “The Time Ecosystem“, if you would like a zine message me. @rudytheelder.bsky.social #zines #cyberpunk

I made a new zine! If you want one message me your address. This first draft of “The Time Ecosystem“ so it’s a little bit of a rough draft but you’ll get the idea! I made this to hand out at a talk my father @rudytheelder.bsky.social and I gave on Friday! #Zine #ZineMaking #Time #fourthdimension

I have too many new paintings on my walls. Take one off my hands! www.rudyrucker.com/paintings

You know that nice smell that comes after a light rain? There's a word for it! PETRICHOR from Petra for stone and Ichoror for essence of the gods. Coined in 1964. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petrichor

What? Another Rudy's Blog post? Yep, with thirty cool photos and comments on each. For those unfamiliar with the blog medium, think of it as a thirty-fold micropost. www.rudyrucker.com/blog/2025/03...

After eight months, Rudy's Blog is back. Today's post: California Gnarl. Check it out. www.rudyrucker.com/blog/2025/03...

My programmer friend Michael Beeson said, “Writing a long program is like being a drug addict. All you want is that one thing, and you never have any time for all the other things." Same deal with writing a novel. Feels good to be done --- and *very* good to be free. Painting now & will blog again.

Thinking about tactics for staying ahead of AI Rudy-bots. Continually upping my game. Hard: include newly invented ideas about science and philosophy. Easy: avoid obvious next-phrase and next-topic choices. Transreal: reach beyond book and into my experience. (And that "real" life can be fiction.)

Remarke by Bruce Sterling: "I kind of like asking blithering AIs to tell me summaries of stuff, even though I know that they bullshit a lot. It's like asking a drunk local on a barstool what's the best way out of town."

"Mayan Codex" is done! Worked on it all day. You can find details in the catalog on my Paintings page. www.rudyrucker.com/paintings/

Cultural event! My artist/jeweler daughter Isabel Rucker and I discussing time, the fourth dimension, and infinity. At her show in Fort Bragg, CA, Friday, March 7, 2025. Be there or be a 2D hypercube (that is, a square).

Review of Marc Laidlaw's "After the Pulse album. 50K streams so far! Go, Marc! The song "Haunted Honey" is my fave. addtowantlist.com/index.php/20...

At the Computer History Museum nearw San Jose today. www.rudyrucker.com/wares/

"Mayan Codex," draft 2. Might be half done. Long day in the studio... which happens to my backyard.

Still on Dylan kick from the movie. I'm rereading Greil Marcus's somewhat overheated monograph about "Like a Rolling Stone". It led me me to a Spanish hip hop version of the song, with what sounds like three times as many syllables. Very fun and cool. By Articio 31. music.youtube.com/watch?v=jeFW...

New painting. Getting there. Two or three more drafts to come. 'Mayan Codex".

Light reading for a Sunday. The Mayan Dresden Codex from the Library of Congress. Page after page, zoomable images. Kerouac said it was Burroughs's favorite reading. www.loc.gov/resource/gdc...

Kate Folk’s novel SKY DADDY is unlike any novel I’ve read. Pure Kafka. Folk’s witty and colloquial style draws us deeply into an odd woman’s life. Each place and time gets the fable that fits. SKY DADDY is here and now. Don’t miss it.

Medicaid is not for sale. NASA is not for sale. The Post Office is not for sale. America is not for sale. We have an obligation to resist kings. We outnumber them. And they can be overwhelmed.

I subscribe to the criterion channel for streaming TV. On the splash screen, I always see this one blonde woman in the upper left corner and wonder about her. Do you know her name? What is the movie?

A sqink wearing jeans and a work-shirt is busy in the aisles of a library. Her right hand is a brushy sheaf of fingers. One by one, she takes books off the shelves, runs her fingers over them, and puts them back, possibly edited. “Those who control the past control the future.”

I know nothing about women. Compared to women, we men aren’t even dogs. We’re chew-toys.
