"better-than-expected" does not signal good news.

Friendly reminder that 47 is an even clearer commitment to the logics of Anton's framework than 45. Flight 93 is worth the re-read for anyone trying to explain the logics of the WH today. claremontreviewofbooks.com/digital/the-...

The sense of inevitability is a powerful tool.

Regardless of one's views of 47's foreign policy moves, it's a remarkable reversal for the party of Reagan. Absolute 180. Unclear if the neocon foreign policy community will fall in line or support a dramatic takedown of strategic defense capacity.

Aggressive media bothsidesism in an increasingly amoral society justifies authoritarian leaders’ positioning as a salve to chaos. It’s self-defeating and lazy at best and complicit at worst.

Interested to see what comes of the "2020 Realignment" thesis in POLS. Seems like there's a COVID-led demise and/or BLM backlash arg. Compared to the 10s, antiracist social movements in the U.S. have cratered in the past 3 years. Cons are winning on "ID politics."
