Pure evil.

Just WTF? Seriously if you are not a U.S citizen, do not travel to the U.S, its not safe.

I spent all ending swapping out 13 fans in the PC. Sounds simple... Each fan had 2 control wires, and the fans were connected to 2 control hubs and a single extra light controller. Now, now I have only 2 wires for all 13 fans and 1 hub.

Okay, installed the water block on the 4080 super today. Waited a week to see if I was going to have any issues with the gpu before tearing it down. Tear down was way easier than my old 3080. Had it apart down to the pcb in 15 minutes. Just wish it went back together that fast...

NEW: Per a source with knowledge, the entire HHS Office of Infectious Disease and HIV/AIDS Policy, or OIDP, was just fired.

My Skyrim has never looked better.

New gpu installed. Quiet the ordeal when the old card was water blocked. New card is almost 4 slots with the air cooler. New water block will be here next week, and I really miss a water cooled gpu already. The fans are so damn loud.

The UK has now issued a travel warning for the US: possible arrest or detention for failing to meet entry requirements.

Okay, the Robocop game from 2 years ago is definitely more than worth the $10 on the Steam sale. Game dev perfectly nailed the feel for a robocop game.

I managed to pick up an open box RTX 4080 Super for a reasonable price given the market that was from a legit company and not marketplace. My 3080 isn't bad, its just I keep hitting Vram. And, given the current chaos right now I'm hedging my bets pricing and availability isn't going to get better.

What in the absolute fuck?

I have spent nearly all day writing scripts and running them modding games. I have spent more time modding than actually playing, lol.

Doing some maintenance on the NAS earlier tonight and I got to thinking about how much storage capacity I have between all my setups thats shareable, and uhh, its a lot. Between the main rig, nas and ausb backup drive I have something like 53TB of storage capacity, lol.

Bleh, so it seems I have norovirus. Not a fan, at all. Its taken me out for a week already.

The build your own local hosted smart speaker project has been a learning experience. Was using a 3B LLM for a conversation agent and while it worked, it was finicky. Currently trying a 7B model (the limit my hardware can handle) to see if its less finicky.

Diving deep into Home Assistant and just the amount of stuff you can do with it is pretty insane. The level of automation and scripts is really cool.

It's working. Keep the drumbeat of calls rolling: Dial (202) 224-3121 and a U.S. Capitol switchboard operator will connect you directly with your Senate office. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

WTF? As a member of the queer community just, wtf.

Lee Atwater had a pungent and famous quote about how once conservatives could no longer use the n-word they used things like “states’ rights” to invoke the same spirit. I don’t think it’s an exaggeration any more — if it ever was — to say they use DEI as the n-word.

Well, tonight's been a clusterfuck of tech hardware failure. Main rig no longer could connect to my NAS. So went to go see what was going on. And found the boot drive, a 250gb kingston nmve drive just died. Cool. Great. I don't have any spare nvme drives, something I should rectify.

Holy shit. After 2 days of staring at a pc terminal window I finally have created my very own, locally hosted personal smart voice assistant that controls my iot devices. No external cloud service required. And, its using a local llm I have running on a server so its actually pretty decent.

This new pc is deathly quiet. Even while running a cpu stress test I cannot hear the fans even right next to it. My main rig is louder than it.

Finally, Pop OS is installed. Good grief. Apparently it didn't like trying to install the OS with the preinstalled Nvidia drivers. Went with the iso that didn't have the Nvidia drivers and it worked. Literally spent an hour trying to figure out why the install went black. Now onto a remote desktop.
