After running today, two of my fingers were bright white and the rest were red from the cold. Apparently I had Raynaud’s Phenomenon, its amazing what you learn about your body in the course of running.

Another half marathon event completed. 3 in 3 weeks. I thought I had done rubbish but made it to 10 miles before having to walk & run. Also this is a fast course so was faster in the first 6. Glad it's over, can have a bit of event rest until March now. Slowly getting faster.

Starting to think about what running gear I want to buy, I'm hoping this is a good sign that I am out of my slump. I was looking back over my stats and it's been rubbish since 2021 - yikes. On and off. Tomorrow I do my 3rd half marathon of the month, hopefully this will kick start my motivation.

Friday was my 2nd half marathon of the month, to celebrate Charles Darwins up coming birthday, a run around his home town of Shrewsbury. Around a cycle track. Boring course but very predictable. Now I just have to run in-between the long runs :) #running #halfmarathon #ultra #author #books

Last weeks half marathon, first of the year (event) was the Warwick half. Great course, with lots of nice downhill sections and even the sun came out a bit. Starts and finishes at the race course. I was slow, but glad I was able to get out of bed. #running #halfmarathon #ultra #author #books

First running event of the year tomorrow. Managed only 20 odd miles in January, longest run being 6 miles. It's going to be a long morning tomorrow. Glad to have finally made it to the first event though, even it'll be a disaster. #running #running #halfmarathon

Managed a 4 mile run yesterday, thats two runs so far this month. Not doing well at this so far this year. Cant run until Tuesday or Wednesday next week, hope I feel more inclined. This running lark is getting harder every year. #running #ultra #run #slow

Running Review: 2024 was the least I've ran since I started in 2019. In fact I've been on a steady decline since 2021. Need to do better next year, shouldn't be difficult based on this year. 2024: 435 miles 2023: 595 miles 2022: 697 miles 2021: 933 miles 2020: 766 miles 2019: 542 miles

Just sorting out the runs for 2025, I've currently only got the ones that I normally do. Three half marathons and two ultras (70, 62),so far. Want to do something different but logistics are always a problem and stops me.

Final running event of the year done yesterday. Can't believe how slow I was (and how much I walked), my fastest half for the year is 2.09, so the lack of running this year has destroyed me. #running #ultra #runningbooks

Feeling good, don't feel like running yet, I do have a half marathon tomorrow though. So I'll be taking it a little easy. Have three half marathons and two ultra's booked so far next year. Will try to get back into it after my "Annus horribilis" as the queen once said. #running #ultras #author

The colonoscopy diet is over, so is the actual camera up the bottom. All I can think of now is when I can run again. Was disappointed I only lost about 2.5lbs from the whole event. #running #ultra

My wife likes the Disney stitch character, so I take it with me on every running event I do. Other runners sometimes get the connection "Stitch".. "Running"... I normally take 2, one for the backpack and one for the hat/front of pack. I've seen quite a few runners do this, just a bit of fun.

On a bit of a diet all weekend now (not through my own choice), this should be fun! I've been wanting to lose a bit of weight for some time, probably not how I wanted to do it. 😂

Uk weather is very cold today, really putting me off from running. Definitely need to get a run in tomorrow.

When doing #Ultras and you've done them a few times you get to know the points in the course that are a welcome relief. This one is bitter sweet as its on Hadrians wall (70m Ultra), most of the major inclines are done, but the amazing scenery is also coming to an end. #running #fitness

Not run all week, so forcing myself to go out. It's cold and sunset is at 3.55pm, so have my light all ready. Watch is telling me to do an hour, which will be about 6 miles, can I push it to 8. Not feeling it at the moment, but will need to switch off on the laps otherwise I'll want to give up.

Saturday Motivation: Running can hurt. I damaged a rib once coming down from Snowdon. It hurt and after I got over the initial embarrassment I pushed on and finished the event. My kids laughed at my video, but falling over is expected at some point, it's what you do after that counts. #dontgiveup

Looks like my decision to not go running was the right one. Sat in my home office writing a few pages for my next running book, when I heard a little crash, like a bin falling over. Look in the garden and my tree has fallen down. #StormDarragh #running #ultras

I live in the midlands UK and though Storm Darragh is hitting worse to the west, still strong gusts of wind and rain. Looks like no running all weekend. This training is not going well. #running #ultras

Suppose I'd better try and push myself out for a 4 mile run tonight, it's cold and dark and I haven't charged up my torch as much as I wanted. Need to be more prepared, it's dangerous out there in the dark! #Running #Runners #RunnerProblems #BePrepared #Ultras #Parkrun

Really want to do the Chester 100 in April next year, but my longest run in the last three months is 8 miles, I just can't see it happening. If I was comfortably running half marathons I might be more inclined. Might have to go with the 54 miler instead in April. #running #ultras #marathon #10k

Recommendation Sunday: #Running tape, so amazon is full of no named brands these days, and knowing which one to buy is difficult. Though more expensive, RockTape is a reliable brand for both taping up before running, but I've also used it for my feet. #ultras #10k #parkrun

Looks like today is going to have to be a rest #running day as my watch is telling me I'm strained, my hip and groin are aching. It's so hard to even get back to where I was two years ago. Still small wins are what's required right now. Slow progress is still progress. #ultras #fitness #10k #runners
