Beyond thrilled to see my piece on the longlist for the @fracturedlit.bsky.social Micro Prize! Massive thanks to @tommydeanwriter.bsky.social and the wonderful Fractured team!

I didn't make it onto the shortlist, but huge congratulations to everyone who did! Can't wait to read all the stories!

Greatly enjoying my self- guided writing retreat this weekend at a Buddhist centre in the Brandenburg countryside -- a lovely Christmas present from @berlinreified.bsky.social.

Absolutely gobsmacked to be on the @bathflashaward.bsky.social longlist! Thank you so much to the judges for choosing my piece!

On February 22nd we are going to #GetLost in a good book! 📖 There are events happening in libraries all over for Ireland Reads during February and on Ireland Reads Day, February 22nd. Find out what’s happening at irelandreads.ie #IrelandReads #GetLost #EireAgLeamh

The snow in my local Berlin park was a delight this morning. Memories of going sledging with my daughter when she was little.

That Super Bowl was a gift for black artists. Kendrick showed us a way forward in this time of facism. Coded language. Storytelling. Aggressive humor and joy. Elevated artistry in the place of mere entertainment. Not obeying in advance. Saying the thing that respectability doesn’t want us say.

Started writing five things I'm grateful for in my journal. If someone finds this after my death, I hope they'll really puzzle over 1. Veg cabbage rolls 2. Socks 3. The Elder Higginses 4. Tombow 5. Nola

Leonora Simonovis has written a very positive review of Maximum Summer by my better half @berlinreified.bsky.social for the Poetry Foundation: www.poetryfoundation.org/books/review...

Good morning to new followers 👋 We've got a few starter packs you might find useful. Here's 150 writers from Europe or in Europe or dreaming of Europe. You can follow them all with one click go.bsky.app/73irajm

We would love to create a starter pack of bookstores in Europe people can visit on their travels. Please recommend your favourites and we will get it going.

I was delighted I could be in Edinburgh for the launch of The Endeavour of Elsie Mackay by @florajowriter.bsky.social. It was a lovely evening with a full house!

Our translation of the classic 1983 Ethiopian novel Oromay by Baalu Girma is out today in the US. The sly takedown of an inept brutal regime - with spies, war, and a sweeping romance - was banned and cost Girma his life. He gifted us a great book, very excited to share it. www.davidwrites.net/oromay

Folks in Edinburgh -- apparently there are still a few tickets left for @florajowriter.bsky.social's book launch this Wednesday. Should be a wonderful evening!

FIRST PLACE in the Welkin Mini 2025. "Nine One One" by @sfreligh.bsky.social. Congratulations, Sarah. A micro that exists on the periphery of the real and the dream, all of it building in such a way that spoke to me on a deeply personal level: www.mattkendrick.co.uk/welkin-prize...

Tune in to Sherry's Shorts on @highlandhradio.bsky.social Fridays or any day via Catch Up. This episode of short fiction features fabulous stories from Daniel Addercouth @ruralunease.bsky.social, @susanelsley.bsky.social, @PhilBaarda & me! www.mixcloud.com/invernesshr/...

Stunning work by @noranadj.bsky.social. A well-deserved winner!

“a long golden twilight that never ended.” I felt like a canvas had unraveled in front of me with an atmosphere in which the protagonist could both reflect & go happily forward, even in death. I love how this made me feel
