See if you can figure out what this ad from 1984 is selling before the reveal…

I make a super fast simple sound synthesis engine. Designed for microcontrollers, it uses little RAM and flash. Intended for 32-bit microcontrollers that have a fast multiply, like ARM Cortex-M0. github.com/simap/MicroM...

This video is important. It's not important for the reasons I thought it was based on the title alone. This is about mental health, and women's health, along with public safety. It's worth a watch for anyone who has ever been on a plane. Thanks @xylafoxlin.bsky.social youtu.be/aj0H8oVS7qg?...

Firefly made history last weekend. Watch Blue Ghost's awe-inspiring Moon landing video:

I need help. 3 National STEM Festival sponsors pulled funding because of the current climate. Please help. This is a life changing opportunity for kids that have worked so hard! www.gofundme.com/f/support-th...

Surely this new video won't make me seem like a crank. www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEJp...

A Transparent BB-8 Build Using Christmas Ornaments https://hackaday.com/2025/02/13/a-transparent-bb-8-build-using-christmas-ornaments/

"Wishing for a thing does not make it so." -Picard 2:17

A friend's kid got a 3D printer for Christmas. This week they found a model of a kit for an AT-AT and printed a few copies. I got one and immediately put it together.

several months ago, i had a chance to get hands on (well, gloved hands) with a real Apollo DSKY, which is what the Apollo astronauts used to control the famous AGC (guidance computer). take a look at Curious Marc's first video in the series. www.youtube.com/watch?v=JB4x...

I want a war walking device for Bluetooth beacons that logs GPS coordinates. I'll use this as an excuse to try Flipper Zero development. I need GPS so I've wired a GT-U7 GPS module into a hat using a SOP to DIP adapter using the SOP footprint to wire the connections.

Found some GameBoy Advance carts. The DS I have has no slot for these carts, so I bought a DS Lite off eBay. It arrived with a blank screen. The internets said the wifi module had come loose. I opened it up and, yup, it was the wifi module. Time to play!

There are a lot of really neat payloads on the next Intuitive Machines lander, including a 'hopper' that will explore a permanently shadowed crater for the first time! arstechnica.com/space/2025/0...

Going to grab the FUnicorn kit and wire up one of those doppler motion sensor modules (RCWL-0516) to it.

I'm going to need a few pointers.

I've created a GitHub repo for the HackerBoxes Simon clone firmware. I'll probably make a video about the development down the road. github.com/ruthsarian/H...

I bricked the ATTiny85 I'm using for the Simon clone. I disabled the reset line so the only way to revive it is to reset its fuses. 12V from my bench power supply is hooked up via a transistor controlled by the Arduino Nano. The Nano has a fuse reset sketch that.. worked! The 85 is back in action!

DEBOUNCE!

Blusky's Android app has a real problem with inputting alt text, at least on videos. I just posted a video and it took 8 attempts to enter alt text. every time the text went off screen and if I tried to adjust the window the alt text box closed and my work was lost. very frustrating. @bsky.app

Been spending the last couple days diving into this odd, little project. A nice exploration electronics design and programming.

why can't all addressable, through-hole RGB LEDs have the same pin out? it'd make life much easier.

this big power bank thing was being thrown away so I grabbed it to play with. the electronics in it appear good. the problem, I believe, is a bad battery bank. the batteries are arranged into 4 groups of 8 18650s in parallel. three measure 4.2V, one measures 0.6V.

The electronics of a Wohome S66 sound bar. A 15W amp IC (right), a buck regulator IC (middle), and the Bluetooth/MP3/IR/Audio DAC IC (left). There was also a separate PCB with buttons and an IR receiver that plugged into this PCB.

I updated the JLCPCB assembly personality chip designs. A couple of the parts were no longer in stock so know I've picked out new ones. Then ordered a small batch to make sure I didn't screw it up and... they're good! oshwlab.com/ruthsarian/c...

Put together a Hackerboxes RF Boy, which is an ESPBoy with some RF support. Spent more time getting the TFT_eSPI library working with the display than anything else, but it works! Now to figure out what to do with it. I could probably port droid toolbox to it...

Since yesterday I was talking about Gates McFadden’s struggles to get behind the camera opportunities, it’s time for me to share a story about the Doctor and how she’s one of the reasons I’m a Professor. 🧵 (Here’s us at the 2024 #StarTrek convention #STLV)

Looks like my 10-year-old TV just lost at least one backlight LED. I could take a shot at replacing the LEDs or use this as a lame excuse to buy a 4k TV. Hmm...

Intel launched the Pentium processor in 1993. Unfortunately, dividing sometimes gave a slightly wrong answer, the famous FDIV bug. Replacing the faulty chips cost Intel $475 million. I reverse-engineered the circuitry and can explain the bug. 1/9

Trying to create a 125KHz RFID reader with an Arduino Nano as an exercise in learning more about how it all works. Timers. AM demodulation. OpAmp Magicks I still don't understand. Somehow, it's working. That's an EM4100 bitstream in the output window!

Finally published the last video on my custom blade controller. Been sitting on it for nearly a year. Just not happy with the flow of it, but I need to move on. youtu.be/zPgdREKil7U
