What happened today to a united States Senator is outrageous. And the so-called justifications from the Administration are total BS. Here’s why

It's a truly jarring split screen that Kristi Noem's goons attacking Sen Padilla happened at almost the exact same time as 16 Dem senators crossed lines to vote with the GOP to invoke cloture on the crypto bill, forfeiting any leverage. Dems need to act like an opposition.

ICE TRIED TO ROLL OUT IN Manhattan-New Yorkers said "NAH" AND SENT THEM BACK INSIDE!!

👇👇

On 6/12, DHS Sec’y Kristi Noem said “We are staying here to liberate [LA] from the socialists and the burdensome leadership this governor and mayor have placed on this country and this city.” This use of military force to displace a democratically elected is the very definition of a coup.

You know who didn't identify themselves? The thugs who assaulted Senator Padilla.

This is Kristi Noem admitting that Homeland Security is currently occupying Los Angeles, not to protect citizens, but for purely *political* reasons. Yes, she really is that stupid.

🆘This is an active coup underway on our democracy🆘 IF YOU ARE N AMERICAN WHO LOVES FREEDOM THEN RIGHT NOW IS THE TIME TO STAND UP FOR DEMOCRACY TIME TO GET UNIFIED IS NOW…..WE ARE OUT OF TIME…. NOkings.org

Mark this for the history books: “We’re talking about the president exercising his authority, and the president is of course limited to his authority. That’s the difference between a constitutional government and King George,” said Judge Charles Breyer.

Just so we're all clear: It's not a coincidence that the first senator they've used physical force against is Sen. Alex Padilla, a Latino man representing California.

The physical assault of a United States Senator by federal law enforcement — for simply questioning a cabinet secretary — is a big test. The Senate can either assert itself as a co-equal branch of government & demand accountability or it can be docile & fade into the background. It’s a choice.

Arresting someone for asking a question ain’t a display of strength. It’s a display of weakness.

The head of FEMA’s disaster command center, responsible for coordinating the national response to earthquakes, floods, and other emergencies, has submitted his resignation.

YAS QUEENS!!! And thanks for boo-ing y’all.

You have a right, whether you are a senator or a janitor, to address questions to civil servants as to how they are doing their job. DHS Kristi Noem is no exception. It is your right to ask questions and also to not be subjected to thuggery for exercising your right.

Understand this!

Senator Padilla was driven violently to his knees–as if made to kneel before the authority of the executive–because the administration called his questions “disrespectful”. This should offend not just the other 99 Senators. It should offend the conscience of this country.

We are marching to Senator Thune’s office. There must be accountability for the detainment of a Senator. This is not normal.

Sen. Alex Padilla getting pushed out by law enforcement on a live feed after he tries to question Kristi Noem at her presser on a live feed in Los Angeles “I’m Senator Alex Padilla. I have questions for the secretary. Because the fact of the matter is, a half dozen... Hands off!”

Today they have crossed a deep red line. We, the people, must hold the president and his appointees accountable for this outrageous abuse against American liberty.

🤦🏼‍♀️

Dis👇🏼 Apologize about my recording...

Don't let them lie to you about Senator Padilla. DHS is claiming the agents DID NOT KNOW he was a senator. He CLEARLY says (BEFORE he is tackled and cuffed) "I am Senator Alex Padilla and I have a question for the secretary."

What happened to Senator Padilla is absolutely DISGUSTING. Point blank, period. This shit is out of control. Another elected official disrespected while doing their job. (1/2)

A DHS spokesperson defended the detainment, accusing Sen. Padilla of failing to properly identify himself during Sec. Kristi Noem's press conference. But multiple videos show Padilla clearly identifying himself as a senator.

Kristi Noem must resign. She has deported a four year old with cancer, detained a U.S. marshal, and arrested two members of Congress. She’s lost the confidence of the American people. ICE must stop terrorizing our communities.

The cruelty in today's politics feels horribly corrosive. Bringing up that hard-working immigrant families — undocumented, yes, but not violent criminals — are being ripped apart based on immigration status doesn't bring compassion or even pause, but gleeful cheers.

I am sounding the alarm as loudly as I can that Donald Trump has turned the Department of Justice into a cog in his authoritarian machine to prosecute his political opponents.

Stoke fear. Exploit desperation. Suspend the rule of law. Fan brutality. Every time the stronger brutalize the weak, it’s fundamentally the same playbook. Our duty is to stand up to brutality. Our moral obligation is to protect the vulnerable and hold the powerful accountable.
