I lost my keys and our department manager gave me the new ones on a Lanyard of Shame so I can wear them around my neck. Back to my roots as an 80s latchkey kid, I guess.

I recently organized (as part of a large committee) a conference that ~700 people attended! But ok, Martin-con would feature DIY instrumentation for biophysics, 3D printing, plants, fish, isopods, and weird art. Maybe only 10 people would show up, but we'd have fun.

I submitted my abstract for #Botany2025 ! I will talk about protein expression and prey nutrient use in the carnivorous plant Drosera capensis.  We used RNA-seq to measure differential expression of digestive enzymes and untargeted metabolomics to identify molecular changes in response to feeding.
