Trumpism relies on people’s inability to access information so that resistance is more difficult. We saw this in Trump 1.0 with trying to end data on Covid. People without reliable info will default to accepting the impulses of MAGA.

It’s nice how they’ve replicated the middle school dynamic of the insecure bully and his sniveling sidekick picking on someone surrounded by a circle of scared little boys who also try to talk shit so the bully doesn’t come after them. Or as the right calls it, “masculinity.”

There is no one so brilliant, so capable of unparalleled thought, so necessary that they should be listened to if they mistreat others. Their voice and accomplishments can and will be replaced by someone else. We don't need their thoughts.

As an identifiably Jewish academic who teaches on Jewish history and culture, Palestinian Studies as an academic discipline does not threaten me. What threatens me is Kathy Hochul setting up attacks on academic freedom and the independence of the university as something supposedly done in my name.

issue with “hire more conservative professors” is that they don’t mean “hire a smart guy who happens to think taxes should be lower”, they mean “hire a movement conservative”, and these days there are multiple litmus tests for being that type of person that are “insist this false thing is true”

I don’t know the answer to the crisis of masculinity—formed due to centuries of masculine dominance working in a feedback loop to create greater ideologies of privilege; nevertheless , I do know that the solution isn’t giving into the whims and feelings of a bunch of men obsessed with masculinity.
