More politically targeted trade retaliation (PTTR). If the US moves forward with tariffs, the world is ready to counter.

Who said nothing good comes of a trade war?

Two years ago Stephen Chaudoin, @maxkagan.bsky.social, and I published a paper on politically-targeted trade retaliation (PTTR) against swing states and Red states. Since it's is back in the news, if you're interested in the domestic effects of PTTR check out doi.org/10.1007/s115...

So much has happened recently that causes me great concern. I'll speak to what I know best, which is trade politics. I'm genuinely saddened and deeply worried about what the most recent tariffs (& potentially upcoming ones) will do to our country and the world! 😟

Happy birthday to my son. I was short on time, but still pulled off his requested chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting.

Received my second journal acceptance of the week! 2025 is starting strong (on this dimension). Happy Friday.

This is a really cool paper, which I recommend to those interested in public opinion in IR, IO's, and legitimacy.

If universities want to retain female faculty they need to deal with the people who create hostile workplaces. That means actually dealing with sexual harassers, assholes, bullies, and every else who scores high on the dark triad. If not, you will lose your best people over and over again.

I've seen so many great starter packs, but I've yet to encounter one on int'l organizations and cooperation. So, I made one. It is no doubt incomplete, but I hope you find it helpful nonetheless. Feel free to circulate and, if you have suggestions on who to add, send them my way! go.bsky.app/RbHqH38

A great way to start the day!

My students were just asking about the disconnect between economic fundamentals and public knowledge/opinion. Thanks for sharing your findings.

My daughter wins for today’s prank. She tucked this evil beast into my bed tonight, and it definitely surprised me. Im sure this will give me nightmares, and my daughter thinks it’s hilarious.
