Trump and Vance act as if the problem is that Ukraine is resisting an ongoing Russian invasion. The problem is the ongoing Russian invasion. If they want to use American power to stop the war, apply it to the aggressor. Abusing the victim is not going to end a war of aggression.

He’s such a miserable dick. He’s always a miserable victim. Everybody is always out to screw him. What a fucking miserable outlook on life. And btw, he’s saying yet again exactly what Putin wants him to say. He’s working for Putin.

Within the span of 90 minutes on Tuesday morning, two airplanes, at Washington’s Ronald Reagan National Airport and at Chicago’s Midway International Airport, were forced to abort landings to avoid collisions, federal aviation officials said.

Elon Musk’s team posted an online “wall of receipts,” celebrating how much it had saved by canceling federal contracts. Now it has deleted all of the five biggest “savings” on that original list, after The New York Times and other media outlets pointed out they were riddled with errors.

The Trump administration blocked key parts of the federal government’s apparatus for funding biomedical research, effectively halting progress on much of the country’s future work on illnesses like cancer and addiction despite a federal judge’s order to release grant money.

Awful: Numerous scientists and researchers were just fired at NIH's center for treating Alzheimer's, sources tell me. They fear Trump-Musk cuts could dramatically set back our ability to treat dementias. New reporting from me here: newrepublic.com/article/1917...

"Most Americans don’t want to believe that their government is taking lifesaving medicine away from sick people in Africa, or betraying Afghans who sacrificed for this country" But it's happening www.theatlantic.com/magazine/arc...

This is a new level of madness. I don't know how it can be stopped

Media is so pathetic parroting BS that Musk’s doing “savings” by finding “waste.” Just about every outlet has said that. It’s obviously false. And you fell for this trick already! He says “free speech,” it looks like BS, he then does the literal opposite, and you still say it! Have some integrity.

In addition to being brave and the right thing to do, Sassoon’s letter points out that the Emperor has no clothes — it demolishes the utterly fatuous, transparently corrupt excuses for dismissing the Adams case.

The Department of Government Efficiency isn't interested in efficiency. Or transparency, or cutting costs. It's real goal is to destroy the federal civil service. In other words, regime change. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

State run media. What every good authoritarian does. And btw, Trump & his people are such snowflakes. They’re so easily offended. Oh, the Wa Post wrote a mean article about Trump? Sue them! Ban them! An administration of grown ups could handle BOTH The NY Times and Breitbart.👇

Trump, never mind Musk, have no legal authority to eliminate USAID. This is vandalism.

The examples of early/mid 20th Century Austria and Germany show that a country can euthanise its own research sector even though it began from an incredibly strong place. From the looks of it this is the direction the USA is going in.

As the Trump administration and Elon Musk work to dismantle USAID, the government’s lead agency for delivering humanitarian aid for generations, right-wing influencers have flooded the internet with falsehoods about its work, promoting unfounded claims and conspiratorial thinking. nyti.ms/4htWHN0

Rep Raskin making sense on Musk’s attempted coup. More of this please. newrepublic.com/article/1911...

Was at an event in DC this evening with a lot of federal employees and it is absolutely wrenching to talk to people who dedicated themselves to public service work through the appalling attacks and uncertainty that they are facing now.

And there it is: Doors are open for kleptocracy in America

Community health centers are now starting to shut down across the country because of Trump’s executive orders. These centers serve 1-in-5 rural patients in America.

A teen DOGE staffer recently given access to government systems worked at a startup known for hiring convicted hackers. Someone using a Telegram handle associated with him also solicited a cyberattack-for-hire service in 2022. All raising questions about his vetting. www.wired.com/story/edward...

Schools in at least 10 states have closed because of flu outbreaks. 41+ states are currently reporting "very high" or "high" influenza activity with ER visits surging. This comes after Donald Trump paused the CDC from issuing external communications to the public, halting health advisories.

This very stupid story feels important to me. The fact that lots of government workers pay for subscription news sites, and that this is a work expense, was not secret. The spending was public (on USASpending.gov). What changed? Elon's reply guys raised a ruckus and he RT'd them.

I’d like to see Democrats find as many of these people as they can and try to help them directly. Then bring them to the U.S. to speak publicly about how Musk and Trump left them sick, mutilated, or in mortal danger.

A year ago, I stepped off the daily hamster wheel of crazy. And yet, here we are again, waiting for tomorrow's distraction from today’s distraction from yesterday’s horrifically stupid, dangerous idea. open.substack.com/pub/charlies...

"Do online conspiracy theories have any impact? Do disinformation campaigns work?"

"All elections are rigged and Democrats don't exist" is the kind of paranoid delusion that once got you shunned from society and maybe committed. Now it gets you retweeted by the defacto president and the adoration of thousands of other cultists.

Nearly all of the 10,000 global employees of USAID will be placed on administrative leave by Friday, a memo said, capping a week of chaos at the agency and stoking fears that the Trump administration may shut down most, if not all, of its humanitarian and development operations. Of course it’s a coup. Miss the obvious, lose your republic. open.substack.com/pub/snyder/p...

Obviously illegal, immoral, and just plain disgusting for a handful of young people to seize the personal and financial data of millions of others and hand it to a centibillionaire.

Shame on you Senator Collins. You’re voting to have a Putin cheerleader oversee America’s intelligence. Shame on you for selling out.
